I don't know how this election will turn out but I do know that even if Obama thinks he has it in the bag, he will continue to campaign for as many votes as he can possibly harvest. He wants not just a win but a "mandate," ie, as strong a majority as possible so he can bolster his claim that America wants his brand of "change."
I wouldn't read 'worry' into this exhibition of narcissism, I would read 'putting the icing on the cake.' Sorry.
