Another great writer by the name of George Orwell wrote a little known (now) book about an ultra left socialist society. Name of the book was 1984. Most people under 40 have probably never heard of it, and many of those who have don’t understand it. In fact, the govt indoctrination centers (schools) teach that it is about a conservative society ala their ddelusions of GW.
I was wondering if anyone else had run into this. I was amazed to recently hear a 30-something describe 1984 as a warning about the excesses of corporatism. Global Corporatism Run Amok was the working interpretation he had learned at college.
All I could do was point out that INGSOC was Newspeak for ENG-lish SOC-ialism. I was otherwise speechless. Where and how do you begin to overcome such conditioning?
