Unlike the John Mayer endorsement of Obama, this comes from the counterintuitive celebrity endorsements file. Joe Perry on McCain:
Ive been a hardcore Republican my whole life, he told the Herald. My mother and father drilled into me from the very start that if you work hard and be positive, youll get what youre working for. I guess Im living proof of that.
Of criticism about McCains age, Perry said: My mothers in her 80s and she does aerobics. My managers 70 and hes right there. That doesnt bother me.
And despite lopsided polls, he urged his fans to get out and vote.
Im an optimist. It aint over till its over, he said. I think that hes got a chance.
And, Perry was inexplicably able to express all this without a 5-minute high-production-value, low-impact video.

Walk this Way! as a rokin roller I have been very limited in recent years as to who Ill listen to. Nuge, your still the best! but 8 years of only Wang Dang is enough. I think Alice Cooper has some conservatives in the band to!

Brett Michaels from Poison is a good guy too. I’ve been to probably four Poison concerts and he always mentions the vets and the troops. His dad is a Korean vet and his brother is Nam vet. He always talks about how proud he is of them.

I heard about this during a WBAP (Hannity) commercial break this afternoon. I ‘bout did a cartwheel in my car! I had no idea that Perry was a conservative. So now we’ve got Joe the Plumber and Joe the Rocker!! The Dems are stuck with Joe the Gaffemaster.
Joe Perry, you’re my Angel!

He’s a class act in that regard. Granted, Bret’s not a guy I’d want my sister to date...he’s kind of a man-whore, but he supports the troops!
And he (and Poison) can still put on a hell of a show.

Joe's a regular guy who just happens to be a famous rock musician. I met him back around '83 down at Pat O'Brien's in the New Orleans French Quarter. I was sitting with a friend at one of the perimeter tables in the courtyard patio bar and we were talking about guitars and music (we were both in college bands playing the local dives at the time).
From the table behind me, I hear someone say "Hey man... you play?" I look around and see this guy's *sort of familiar* face peering through the ferns that separated the tables. He got up and walked around and introduced himself. My friend and I were both a bit slack-jawed with surprise, but Joe just wanted to talk music with some locals. Very nice guy, and surprisingly sober, given his location and the reputation that he and Tyler had at that time. The sort of guy who looks you straight in the eye when he shakes your and.
Glad to hear that my impression from all those years ago was correct.

That’s Johnny Ramone, the guitarist for the Ramones.
He not only called Reagan the best president of his lifetime, but during their Hall of Fame induction in 2002, he said “God bless President Bush, and God bless America”.
Caused quite a stir in the punk rock community. :)

Well, we know Dave Mustaine hates the United Abominations I mean Nations. The extent of his conservatism I do not know.
Then there's Sammy Hagar. Sammy is definitely for the good guys.

It doesn’t hurt that Aerosmith is already established as a successful, legendary band. Great music, great man. Nice to know there is some sense in some people in the entertainment industry. And there is something so rebellious about it, too! Rock on with your bad self, Joe!
