Big turnout meant big lines on the last day of early voting in Colorado. Thousands of people lined up at the three voting locations in Colorado Springs. Wait times exceeded 3 hours.
"I'm shocked," said Lisa Schmick as she joined the line at Centennial Hall where the line stretched out the door. "I thought everybody voted on the 4th. I thought ...'we're going to beat the lines coming early'".
The line there was so long some got frustrated and just gave up.
"It's pretty discouraging," said Louis Spicciati, who decided to leave and come back on November 4th. "You've got to wait for at least an hour in the hot sunshine before you can even get inside."
Election officials say the numbers were unprecedented. More than 37,000 people voted early in El Paso County, roughly 5,000 more than the 2004 election.
"It's a good thing for Election Day. It'll help ease the lines at the poll places," said Liz Olson, El Paso County Election Manager.
Olson said the county also issued a record number of mail-in ballots. "We've issued over 150,000 mail in ballots and have close to 100,000 of those back already."
Lookin’ good...
That’s what I heard as well. Mail in votes aren’t counted election night.
They probably will never be counted if a state is declared won on election night and isn’t contested.

put in your info and you can see that your ballot was “recieved”.
If Blizzard would have just released the new World of Warcraft expansion earlier these people would’ve stayed home.

Is it out? Still have all weekend to get the word out... :o)
“Its the most Republican county in the nation. The El Paso turnout is ginormous!”
Woo hoo!

yup.
This is great news!! Rich Lowry is very sad,
;)
Dittos for Cobb County, Georgia. Our advance voting places have been lined up with thousands all week long. There were few Obots in the crowd.
Colorado Springs is a great place. I spent a great summer there years ago. Wouldn’t mind going back.
Long lines observed in NC in 3 voting places. While I waited in line I saw a truck go by several times with huge NOBAMA signs with larger than life pictures including the Muslim garb picture and the picture with a cigarette hanging from his mouth.
Make up a fake article that it will come out early on election day! Then instruct them to stand in line at their local video game store early in the AM, that way they’ll be very tired when they find out they’ve been duped.
Those people look like racists to me.
Yes, 374K... the breakdown.
Republican 165,592
Unaffiliated 120,824
Democrat 85,028
Other 1,911
Bush received 67% of the vote in El Paso County in 2004 and 69% in 2000. GOP Cong Doug Lamborn CO-5TH, got 60% in 2006, after a tough primary battle. Lamborns predecessor, 10 term GOP Cong Joel Hefley usually garnered 70% of the vote.
McCain has to get around 65% in El Paso County to keep Colorado in the GOP column. The only time El Paso County voted for a Democrat was for FDR in 1932 and 1936, and LBJ`s rout of Goldwater in 1964.
I’m guessing that, on November 4, Bob Barr actually gets more total votes from conservative voters than from Libertarian voters, and this would be the first time that such a situation happens with a Libertarian candidate for POTUS. There are still many Libertarians who don’t like Bob Barr and see him as really being a conservative pretending to be a big “L” Libertarian. I just hope that the majority of voters really do vote for McCain/Palin and really do prevent third world socialism from taking over the entire U.S., possibly forever!
Palin has been there at least two times and spoke to huge crowds. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get more than Bush got in 2004 there.
