...

At Qualcomm Stadium, thousands were attending TheCall, which organizers said is a prayer and fasting event in support of passage of Proposition 8, which would restore the legal definition of marriage to between a man and a woman. The event was scheduled to continue until 10 p.m.

...

At Qualcomm, about one one-third of the stadium was full and the playing field packed as TheCall unfolded. It was part spiritual revival, part music festival and part political rally.

People of all ages dressed for the warm weather, some in T-shirts supporting Proposition 8.

A giant stage was erected under the stadium scoreboard and Lou Engle, the Call co-founder, and a myriad of pastors were continually asking the crowd to pray and repent while music blasted from speakers around the field.

The MSM sneers at values voters and tells them to get ready for the same sex marriage utopia of the future. I think they're going to be coming in for a number of surprises this coming week!

I think we should use Biden’s three country philosophy and apply a three state policy to California. There are a lot of really great people out there but the inmates run the asylum.

It is interesting that Secretary of State Jerry Brown has cleverly labeled this ballot measure: “ELIMINATES RIGHT OF SAME–SEX COUPLES TO MARRY. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.” Although the measure essentially is meant to restore the concept of traditional marriage (overwhelmingly approved previously by California voters and over-ruled by a 4-3 vote in the California Supreme Court), the liberal word selection implies you are ELIMINATING RIGHTS! George Orwell saw this coming.

Former Governor Moonbeam can call it whatever he wants. We ain't as dumb as he thinks we are. Prop. 8 will win handily.

Also, remember to vote No on every ballot issue that has a bond attached to it. There are several on the ballot under such things as children's hospitals, energy conservation, energy efficient autos, etc. Every prop that will float a bond will result in higher taxes for years to come. And vote No on the drug offender release prop. This would allow lots of crazy drug addicts to avoid jail and end up living in a halfway house down the street from your home in that nice residential neighborhood.

Lastly, vote No on setting a requirement for how much the state much fund cops and firemen each year. This is a union gimmick that will result in higher taxes to fund higher salaries.

So, FReepers, do you support civil unions? Is it that they want to call it “marriage”. Should there be equal rights for couples who form civil unions, or nothing at all?

Just curious.

I haven’t spent much time on this as I have been busy on the socialism side of things fighting the new soviet democrat party.

I live in CA and have to vote on this.

Thanks.

Gays in CA already have civil unions and a plethora of other unbrella legal coverages. The gay lobby demands the word "marriage" as applicable to the union of same-sex couples.

If the word "marriage" is changed, every textbook, possibly every fiction book, all laws will have to be changed to encompass the newer "meaning". This will also affect our business and governmental relationships with other countries -- and the costs to them will also be enormous, not to mention, an affront to many countries.

If the word "marriage" is changed to include same-sex couples, "imperialistic" America (the adjective application from liberals) will become a reality: America will be dictating to all countries around the world what the word "marriage" means.
