Minnesota Poll: Franken, Coleman are neck and neck
Minneapolis Star and Tribune (aka The Fish Wrapper) ^ | 11/02/08 | KEVIN DUCHSCHERE

The Minnesota U.S. Senate race remains a tossup on the final weekend of the campaign, with the outcome likely to be decided by who can snatch away the most voters from third-party contender Dean Barkley.

A new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows DFLer Al Franken clinging to a slim lead over Republican Sen. Norm Coleman among likely voters, 42 percent to 38 percent. That's within the poll's 4.1 percentage point margin of sampling error.

Independence Party candidate Barkley, who held steady at 18 percent in the two previous Minnesota Polls, slipped three points to 15 percent.

The fluid nature of the contest is reflected in the results of a handful of polls the past week that reported results ranging from a six-point lead for Coleman to a five-point lead for Franken.

How anyone can vote for Al Franken is beyond me...

The fact that it is a close race is enough for me to question the sanity of at least half the population of Minnesota.

To call Franken a has-been Commie-moron would be complimentary. He is as hateful a man as there is.

So many Republicans have had so much opportunity given them when he got into their faces spewing his bile. They let the opportunity pass them by, but I would not. I would have knocked his a$$ out cold.

This is the state that elected Jessie Ventura. Granted, he made sense on some issues, but you have a track record of the people of Minnesota electing goofballs.

Please, MN, do NOT send that ugly, fat-faced jackass Leftist to the senate. I couldn't tolerate listening to him and seeing him on TV for what would seem like the next 1000 years. Send him back to err America.

It’s going to boil down to Barkley and how many votes he can draw from Franken. Take him out of the race and Coleman would be toast.

In fairness, Franken isn’t much of a comedian. Seeing as being funny is an imperative prerequisite for those claiming ‘comedian’ as their occupation.

Why?
He’d fit in with the rest of the perverts, crooks, liars, assclowns and scum on capital hill. And he’d probably be very representative of the fools of Minnesota.

Ditto. The very fact that Franken is that close is just sad.

Wow. The country really has gone “to hell in a handbasket”, hasn’t it?

The fact that someone like Franken is even within spitting distance of the US Senate is ABSOLUTELY FREAKING **INSANE**!!

I’ve been hearing some democrats saying that they’ll vote for Barkely because even they can’t stomach voting for Franken. I haven’t heard of Coleman losing many votes to Barkley. Barkley is actually the key player in this race.

Jesse didn’t have to get a majority. It was a three way race. And of course Jesse changed his name from Jesse “the Body” to Jesse “the Mind.” I think that’s what tipped the balance in his favor!

perhaps you misspoke.

Barkley is siphoning votes from Coleman, not Franken.

If Barkley were not in the race, Franken would be toast.

I live in MN.

I thought Barkley had a DFL history. Am I confusing him with someone else?
