I’ve been polled by Gallup in the past, not this presidential election, and Caller ID showed Gallup.
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. When you lie to them, the rumors persist about some great Obama lead- and that motivates his supporters to “get out the vote” and amps up the media energy around him.
We don’t answer the phone either. Our phone died two weeks ago, so we bought a new one and got call waiting this time. AHHHH....peace at last! Wish we’d done it sooner!

Gosh, I hope you answered each and every question thoughtfully and with respect. I also hope you lied through your teeth.
Lots of calls have been coming to my office phones like that. I never answer them.
I’ve got to admit, I’ve absolutely no understanding of what motivates someone to go through answering a poll dishonestly.
Freepers are in agony here that the polls aren’t better for McCain than they are, and they know that the MSM and Dems together use inflated polls to dampen turnout for the Republicans. Yet, some Republican-friendly Freepers somehow are always here to report gleefully that they went to the trouble of answering a poll—inaccurately! As if that’ll show them, claiming to support Obama when they don’t, when nothing plays more into the Democrats’ hands. I just don’t get it.
An extremely conservative neighbor of mine has had the ATTEMPT to be polled twice. He doesn’t answer the phone when he sees who it is. This is the case with most pubbies. When I asked him, “why don’t you answer”? He says, “When I’m home I want to be left alone”. Like the rest of us, he works 50 hours+ a week.
A lot has changed since 2004. More of us has caller ID. More of us use the cell phone as our sole means of communication.
I was polled on Wed or Thursday night by Zogby (I do believe). They called my land line is MO at 9PM.
They had some specific MO questions in addition to the Presidential race.
My stock answer for “race” is AMERICAN.
I’ve been telling them I’m undecided for the last two months and they keep calling. Maybe they want to know if I’ve changed my mind ;)
I was getting polled regularly earlier in the season including Rasmussen but haven’t received anything but robo calls from Ted Stevens in the last three weeks or so.
Polling should no longer be allowed because it has been abused. It is used to lead some and demoralize the rest of us.

...agreed. Helping to dissuade pubbie turnout by increasing BO’s numbers makes no sense. Just don’t answer the phone. I believe that some SAY they answered polls in favor of BO because they’re looking for approval and want to give “good news” in any way they can. They’re dillusional.
Should have told them that you were totally in the tank for Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party. Believe it or not, in Palo Alto (as in People's Republic of ...) California you will actually see Cynthia McKinney lawn signs, more than one on some blocks!

My mistake....not “ALL” I guess....Just BO, Mac, Barr, and Nader.
I asked my mother about how often they were calling her, and she said she would receive up to 5 calls a day to be polled for months! I realized she was on some ‘list’ that pollsters were interchanging from firm to firm.
I came home from the hospital and started answering the phone, telling them I was my mother, and I was voting Republican. After a week or so, my mom stopped being being called and was no longer bothered by the pollsters.
I do believe they call certain people. If you pass their test you are recalled. If not, you are hung up on and not called again.
