McCain Honest On Coal Policy (unlike Obama)
News Register (Wheeling, WV) ^ | November 2, 2008

Posted on 11/02/2008 5:34:07 PM PST by reaganaut1

West Virginians and Ohioans know that America's energy future lies underground - in our vast deposits of coal. Coal holds the promise of providing new gaseous and liquid fuels we need to achieve energy independence.

Sen. John McCain, the Republican candidate for president, understands that. He wants to provide federal help for new coal gasification and liquefaction plants. He also wants to use more coal - burned without harming the environment - for other purposes. That is just one reason we believe residents of our states should vote for McCain for president.

McCain's opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, claims that he, not McCain, is the better presidential pick for those who want expanded use of coal.

It just isn't true.

Leave aside, for a moment, comments by Sen. Joe Biden, Obama's vice presidential running mate. You may remember that during a visit to Ohio, he commented, "We're not supporting clean coal." He claims the statement was "taken out of context." That isn't true, either.

A single facet of Obama's so-called clean-coal proposal disqualifies it from being taken seriously. About a year ago, he sent an e-mail to environmental groups pledging that he "will not support the development of any coal-to-liquid fuels unless they emit at least 20 percent less life-cycle carbon than conventional fuels."

In other words, Obama would not support coal-to-liquid unless the technology can be 20 percent cleaner than gasoline.

That would be a terrible, possibly insurmountable, barrier against coal liquefaction plants.

McCain's proposal is more reasonable. It does not place an additional environmental barrier in the way of coal liquefaction plants. "We found a way to cut down acid rain pollutants from burning coal - and we can find a way to use our coal resources without emitting excessive greenhouse gases," he has said.

This is a good editorial, but I assume it was written before Obama's comments about "bankrupting" new coal plants and causing electricity prices to "skyrocket" were written.

Biden made a statement sometime in the past essentially saying that there is no such thing as clean coal.
When and where? Not sure.

So is clean coal technology to them (Obamaniacs) a pie in the sky they have no intent of pursuing? Probably.

Rats Lie.

Read down on the electronic version at the link. Good folks are bringing this up there.

Folks we have uncovered two of three tapes:

1. Obama “redistribution” tape at Chicago Public Radio.

2. Obama’s “bankrupt coal” and “skyrocketing electricity prices” tape at SF Chronicle.

The missing tape is the Khalidi praise video being withheld by the LA Times.

Two out of three tapes isn’t bad. These tapes show what Obama is really saying and not what the Mainstream Newspapers are writing.

I believe it is no coincidence the three tapes have been surfacing now. The American Public has been sold a bill of goods by MSM and these tapes show how they have slanted the news.

Dugg! Although you would get alot more Diggs if you first post an article over there, then come over here and post your Digg link here. Go up to the Digg keyword in the popular keywords section, click on it, and take a look at how I have been doing it. Post as many articles and video as you can exposing ObamaNation (and then post them here for us to put a protective FReep around) between now and when the last poll closes!!!

And hurry, time is running out! We have to assume the margin of victory is going to be razor thin. Thus, we have to assume that EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS!

Actually that's what I did. I posted there first. I'm the avgdigger that submitted it.

Then I posted the link here in this thread to the digg I created.

And finally I added the "digg" keyword to this FreeRepublic post.

I have about 3 submittals over there so far today.

I've added a few "friends" or whatever over on digg to share with. Any other advice on how we can increase our digg numbers?

MSM have given Obama a total pass. With Kerry at least they looked into SBVFT.

Fact: Obama will increase your Electricity Bill, by increasing emission fines on the Coal Industry until they go "bankrupt"

McCain will save you money, both on your Electricity Bill and your Petrol.

Coal is an issue in VA, but not nearly as big an issue as it is in WV, PA, and OH.
