In Montana GOP Radio Ad, Hank Williams Jr. Hits Obama for "Bitter" Comment
ABC News ^ | October 28, 2008

Remember last April when Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., clumsily described economically struggling small towners as "cling"ing to guns, God, and bigotry?

Hank Williams Jr., does.

In a new radio spot airing in Montana, Williams says: "When Barack Obama said folks like you and me were bitter, and clinging to religion, I knew he just doesn't understand small town America," says Williams, adding: "We love our God, and we love our guns, 'specially handed down from our grandfathers. And we resent it when liberals like Obama question our way of life. Don't be bitter, vote McCain."

One has to say: Montana? What the hell are Republicans doing airing anti-Obama ads in Montana? Are they really worried those three electoral votes will go red?

It never hurts to cover your bases. It’s not like radio ads in Montana are going to break the bank!

Hank has a pretty good gun collection and at one time and maybe still does his own gunsmith. My kind of guy.

Montana has been trending blue since 2004. Democratic Gov and both US Senators are Dems as well. The state senate is also controlled by liberals.

I think quite a few rich liberal environmental types have moved into the state - celebrities and such. It doesn’t take much in a state with such a small population to make a big difference. Also, it seems there is a lot of dependency on government there. The biggest employers are government - the post office, and especially the government schools.

Even in our local paper I can’t believe how many of the job want ads are for various government or quasi-government agencies. From all the jobs for counselors of various kinds, you would think that nobody in this country can live his life without a personal nanny provided by the state.

Thats right. A lot of them had or have property in Montana. Robert Redford was among them. One area was referred to as “Hollywood on the Yellowstone.” Ted Turner bought up enormous tracts of land (113,613 acres) in SW Montana called the Flying D ranch.

This is from Wikipedia
Ted Turner caused a stir in Montana in 2003 by providing a significant amount of funding to a project aimed at restoring a westslope cutthroat trout population to Cherry Creek and Cherry Lake. The controversy stemmed from the use of the poison antimycin to kill the abundant fish population currently living in the stream.[11]

Recently, there has been worry that Ted Turner is systematically taking over land surrounding the Ogallala Aquifer.[12] Ranchers in the area have consistently been outbid by Turner (and his associates).

Montana in the 70s was Democratic. The mining unions in Montana keeps the state in the middle!!

A whole lot of very liberal Californian’s have moved to Montana... and Colorado, and Arizona, and New Mexico, and Utah and Nevada... they are everywhere and bringing their liberal high tax votes with them.

In other words, they make California into a liberal cesspool, run away and make their new state 100% worse. No wonder Californians are hated wherever they move and those who are conservatives have to work 100% HARDER to convince their new neighbors that they aren’t liberal trash.

The only thing I can say is that even though I’ve lived here for 10 + years, at least I wasn’t born here and raised here. LOL!
