Nadler: Obama Didn't Have the Courage to Walk Out on Wright

Jerry Nadler is a Democrat from NY. He is Jewish and came down to Boca Raton yesterday to talk to, I would guess, Jewish voters and he (rightfully) semi-trashes Obama? Huh? I think Nadler may represent a more conservative Jewish district in NY that is more pro-Israel and he "get's it" about Obama.

What is weird is it was a roundabout trashing. This is weird. Did he send a message to Jewish voters in S FL? Will he get the memo out, I hope, including to NJ???

Anyone have a take on this??

Here is another datapoint. I spoke to someone who is running in Broward or Palm Beach County - I will not say which one to keep sources protected. Both have a large Jewish population. Lots of elderly voters plus younger Jewish voters who are a bit more Repub friendly.

A person is running for an important seat in one of these counties and is going around to all the condos, churches etc asking for votes. They are a very likeable person and have been treated very respectfully. I know someone who talked to him and the issue came up about condos and these core Dem voters it appears Nadler is also speaking to. They like this person and many have pledged to support them. They told this person that they will not vote for Obama because he did not pick Hillary. Not maybe it is a Bradley dodge or they get it about Israel or whatever. These people do love Hillary and Bill. So take it for what it is worth but the sources are good. I just cannot disclose more and have to leave it vague. I was very suprised and could help a lot in FL.

Obama Calls Grandmother 'Typical White Person' in Radio Interview

Barack Obama called his grandmother a "typical white person" in a radio interview on Thursday, raising eyebrows among some of his critics only days after he sought to bridge racial division in a major campaign speech.

Obama had pointed to his mother's mother in his speech Tuesday as an example of someone who harbored fears of blacks based on racial prejudice. The Illinois senator revisited his relationship with his grandmother on Thursday in an interview on 610 WIP, Philadelphia Sports Radio.

He denied his grandmother held hatred toward blacks, but described her as a "typical white person."

"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity -- she doesn't," he said. "But she is a typical white person who, you know, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know, there is a reaction. That has been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way."

On Tuesday, Obama described his grandmother as a woman who was at times fearful of black men.

In the speech, he said: "I can no more disown [Wright] than I can disown my white grandmother, a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed her by on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe."

obama stayed in wrights “church” because he agreed with the message. He only disassociated himself from wright after he told bill moyers that “obama is a politician who has to say what he needs to to get elected”

I think this describes Obama. He has a certain kind of confidence when it comes to manipulating people, and he has a talent for manipulating ideas. He has a talent for positioning himself on issues of the day. But...

He has not shown any moral courage or moral clarity. Yet. Ever.

This is what I was thinking. Is Nadler buddies with Hillary? I am wondering if Obama will get less support from Jewish voters. Sadly, some of them will for a D no matter what.

This is what I was thinking. I think Rendell is going through the motions but Nadler appears to be one of the few Dems to say something unkind about Obama. I am hoping Rendell will help sabotage Obama in PA.

MILFORD, Conn. — Barack Obama’s former pastor complained Thursday the media used him as a “weapon of mass destruction” in an attempt to derail Obama’s campaign for the presidency.

Speaking at a forum about race and religion, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright accused the media of taking out of context videos that showed him cursing the government and accusing it of conspiring against blacks from the pulpit of the Chicago church where Obama had worshipped for 20 years.

The videos, which included Wright thundering “God damn America!”, dominated cable television for weeks. The public outrage that followed caused the president-elect to sever ties with his longtime spiritual leader.

Wright, of Tinley Park, told an audience of about 200 people at the forum that he was trying to convey the anger and desire for vengeance that people felt after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. He said the media failed to mention that he was a proud Christian who was raised in a Christian home.

“Their intention was to use me as a weapon of mass destruction, to tear down that man’s integrity,” said Wright, former pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

In a question-and-answer session with the audience, Wright said he didn’t believe Obama shared his opinions publicized on the videos.

“Do you agree with everything your pastor says?” he asked. “Ninety percent of the people sitting in church don’t agree with everything their pastor says. What I saw is not an index on what he did or does not believe.”

Wright’s comments were a stumbling block for Obama’s campaign. In an impassioned speech about faith and race, the Democrat at first expressed support for Wright, saying that “I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother.”

But six weeks later during a speech at the National Press Club, Wright offered eyebrow-raising opinions about the U.S. government, praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and hinted Obama was distancing himself from the pastor for political expediency.

The next day, Obama said he was outraged and denounced Wright’s remarks.
