I’ve felt for a long time that Baby Boomers are the first dysfunctional generation. We were a far cry from our elders. They had morals and values and patriotism. Families stayed together and prayed together. What’s worse, this seems to be handed down from generation to generation.

Not all Boomers, by a long shot though. But there are certainly enough hippies from the '60s that are parents that have passed down the culture of dysfunctionality to their Generation X offspring. You're right in that once a set of parents divorces, dates, remarries, puts the kids in day care - and everything else they can think of to ruin their kids' lives - the next generation seems to follow suit without thinking, adding in shacking up and illegitimate babies to the mix. I've seen it over and over. And of course, nobody ever takes responsibility for starting the downhill roll.

The counter culture movement was a brain child of the Soviet Union and China and was heavily subsidized by the Communist party. Boy did that nasty investment pay off in spades.

It is true that values are handed down; but it is also true that it is a tradition that can be started at any time. If you feel you are on the wrong path it is never too late to start over. I am not trying to say you are on the wrong path- but am saying in general anyone that thinks they are can change, and if they have children they can pass that change down.

One can always start actively supporting the troops- they need it. Attending church and making other lifestyle changes is also always an option.

I do see people that are dysfunctional in my generation; but I also see many that are upholding the traditions and passing them down to a new generation.
