This is how viable third parties are formed.
Every time I see Hillary, I think to myself, it should’ve been you. And that’s why, I cast my vote for McCain.
I was a liberal Democrat until about 1995. In 1996, I sat out the 1996 election b/c I wasn’t crazy about Dole but couldn’t possibly vote for Clinton again. In 2000, I voted Libertarian because I wasn’t comfortable with Bush (but wanted him to beat Gore). Watching the election returns that night was really bizarre, actually wanting a Democrat to lose, but not being used to the feeling.
Changing direction in mid-life is very difficult.
Good find 2DV! How’s your day going?
I seriously believe that this represents most of the “undecided” voters in this election.
Yea... kinda like the feeling I had when I looked in the mirror and admitted to myself that I was not sweet 16 anymore. It’s that way when you finally grow up!
I’m sorry it was so hard..I can understand how you felt...but if this backfires on the media and Obama... it will all be worth it (even for you!)
thank you for the vote!
Aw, God love him. I know it is hard, it was hard for this conservative to vote McCain. But...it was very necessary.
I will say it would have been easy for me to crossover and vote for Zell Miller.
People are realizing that a vote FOR Barack Obama is a vote AGAINST the “American Dream”.
It happened to Ronald Reagan. He got over it.
The time is right.
No, this is how one of the major parties withers away and the other one transforms into something new.
I resolved the conflict about changing (during Clinton) by realizing that my father, who had been a County Democratic Chairman for 40 years, would not have voted for Clinton. Dad was a staunch Truman Democrat and would not stomach Clinton.
And today it is even more pronounced the change that has come over the Democratic party during the last 16 years.
So although I had the stomach cramps back in the 90's, today I have absolutely no regrets about leaving the festering wound in our political system.
The Democratic Party is 99 percent corrupt but don't love the GOP too much. I figure it is about 60 percent corrupt.
Thank you for helping us save our country! We put our lives on the line to save it overseas, now we have to save it here!
You are one fine smart person and again thank you for ALL that you have done!
We are going to win this!!!!
I truly admire the many PUMAs who have allowed critical thinking to guide them, no matter how difficult the change.
Did you ever determine what specifically caused you to change parties in 1996? Just curious as to what tipped your scales.
Are you kidding me?! I would have volunteered to run her campaign! LOL
