Not looking good at the American Club in Singapore

Posted on 11/04/2008 4:17:38 PM PST by watsonfellow

Just show you know, at the American Club election breakfast in Singapore.

Two big screens: cnn and cnbc.

funny no fox news.

But still not looking very good for us here: Lot's of OBama supporters- which is a bit odd because American expats in Singapore tend to be very conservative.

Oh well.

Haven't seen a McCain voter yet.

What happens to your business connections if you publicly support McCain instead of Obama in Singapore?

Are you alone? I hope you get a McCain supporter for company and perhaps have some champagne when he wins. :)

Hmm...
According to my friend, the American expat students at SMU are more pro-McPalin.
Most of them think Obama is a nut.
And as for Singaporeans themselves, I don’t know.
The youth see Obama as hope and change. Ask them why, and they react exactly like other Obama supporters,
“Uh..” or “IT’S ALL BUSH’S FAULT!”
Then you have the ladies in their 30s. Hillary Supporters at the very least. Also thinks Obama is a nut/liar. Yeap, we have PUMAs too.

BTW, how many freepers are there in SG anyway.

That'll change after Obama removes the expat exclusion on foreign income. A little too late, of course.

Funny -- I'm in Singapore this week on business (and we drove by the American Club yesterday). All of the locals here seem to think Obama is great, but every U.S. colleague traveling with me, as well as all of the expats working out here, are McCain supporters.

Incidentally, I'm supposed to be preparing for a 9 AM presentation here local (about 20 min from now), but I can't pull myself away from Freerepublic.com, Foxnews.com, etc. Keeping my fingers crossed...

When we lived there 1995-1997 most all the expats went for Clinton. We voted for Dole. Only had CNN back then also. Loved the American Club.

Singapore Lee Kuan Yew and his son Hsien Loong are not benevolent dictators and they can’t sue me like they do their opponents!
