CBS, FOX call W.Va. for McCain

Based on exit polls, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain will win the state of West Virginia, according to CBS News and Fox News.

The Associated Press and other news organizations did not call the state for McCain.

Throughout the race, Democratic Sen. Barack Obama had trailed the Republican senator from Arizona. Neither candidate spent much time in the state; McCain made a couple of brief appearances.

This marks the third straight presidential election that West Virginians have picked a Republican for president, after years of voting Democratic for the nation's highest office.

In the state's Democratic primaries in May, Obama was defeated by a 2-1 margin by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Obama was defeated by a 2-1 margin by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton

WV is a coal state, a Puma state, and an overwhelming rejection of Obama state.

Pray it continues into east Ohio, W. Pa, TN, Va, and NC.

What am I missing? On Fox’s map, West Virginia was in McCains column, now it’s not.

Now they’ve re-called it?

* Taxes paid by the coal industry and by utility companies that make electricity using West Virginia coal account for two-thirds, or over 60% of business taxes paid in our state.
* The coal industry pays approximately $70 million in property taxes annually.
* The Coal Severance Tax adds approximately $214 million into West Virginia’s economy.
* Twenty-four million dollars of coal severance taxes collected each year goes directly into the Infrastructure Bond Fund.
* All 55 counties, even the non-coal producing counties receive Coal Severance Tax funds.
* The coal industry payroll is nearly $2 billion per year.
* Coal is responsible for more than $3.5 billion annually in the gross state product.

My birth state is going big for McCain Palin. I didn’t think it would be close and it will not.

Coal country is tilting toward McCain. “Bankrupting the coal industry” is coming back to bite Barry in the ass.

Fox News’ map is messed up. Delaware is flip-flopping between Obama and Undecided. WV has flip-flopped a few times.

Does not appear to be any big surprises so far. The Republican turnout bodes well for McCain and not a blowout for Obama as predicted by the msm. Going to be a long night folks and that is good for us. We are in the ballgame.
