Yup, the Libs love “choice” but not choice for the fetus. God’s creation gets no choice.

IF FOCA passes an estimated 125,000 babies per year will be aborted, OVER the current of 1,350,000 estimated.

I think it will be worse.

How so many millions of so called Christians could elect this Foreign Enemy is perhaps the most painful aspect.

“America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts — a child — as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And, in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being’s entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign.”

Mother Teresa (Wall Street Journal, 2/25/94)

I wonder if pro-lifers are willing to admit their tactics have been a complete and utter failure.

“The American people are pro-life,”

Well Father, 63+ million people voted for death and there weren't enough “pro-lifers” to beat that number.

It may not be scientific but I conclude that there are fewer than 63 million truly committed pro-lifers who are eligible to vote.

I think I’m experiencing the five stages of depression in reverse. I’ve gone from acceptance of this election to bargaining to outright anger. I’m currently at anger and headed for despondency.

I wish I shared Father Pavone’s optimism on the abortion front. Realistically speaking, we’ve lost a major, major battle. We were always just one Supreme Court vote away. We had a pro-lifer in the White House and control of the entirety of Congress, and nothing happened.

The actions of the electorate, with the ample evidence of the horror of partial-birth abortion, fantastic 3-D imaging of the fetus, and even the example of a vice presidential candidate who proved that every Down’s child deserves to live... the electorate has proven it just doesn’t care.

I think Americans may indeed be pro-life at least at a philosophical level but the problem is that many who call themselves "pro-life" have made their peace with the culture of death (and I include myself in that category).

What this means is that it's not something that causes us pain on an hourly, daily or even weekly basis. Every January 22 we might get the odd pang or two but apart from that, we've blotted it out. It's a silent holocaust, so we don't see it and thus out of sight is likewise out of mind, too. We've come to accept that Roe v Wade, while repugnant, is probably here with us for the short and medium term and so we shrug and move on.

I'm convinced if people were confronted with the horror and violence of abortion and understood the harm it's doing to this country, they would never vote for Obama, but it's just not a burning issue for them. They're asleep at the wheel and so they vote their pocketbooks or whatever else about him attracts them.

Personally, I don't think we'll ever see the end of legalized abortion until we rediscover chastity, forsake fornication and turn our backs on our pornographic culture. It's unrealistic to expect abortion to go away while we're living in a hedonistic, carnal, self-indulgent culture, because abortion is the sacrament of this particular "church". However, I don't think we can do this voluntarily in our present condition. We're too weak. There has to be a spiritual re-awakening in this country for abortion to cease and that will likely only come after some great suffering or catastrophe which brings us back to our senses. I pray that's not the case but every day makes it appear more likely.

It’s a sad day for the pro-life movement, to be sure. Have no doubt that God is testing us as he tested our fathers. We will now have many opportunities to stand up and speak the truth to power. Will be have the courage to do so?

As of today, I started posting a daily Rosary on the Daily Readings thread -- also this prayer. Say it every day!

~ PRAYER ~

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle
Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we  humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
 by the power of God,
Thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits
who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
 Amen
