My first response to hearing that Rahm Emmanuel is the President-elect's first choice for White House Chief of Staff, was to wonder just how quickly all the other promises of change and a new politics would be similarly repudiated. Emmanuel is a very, very tough partisan, known for practicing fairly brutal politics in the Clinton White House. He's clever. He was one of the big recruiters of Democratic candidates who actually favor the second amendment — many of whom won Congressional seats in 2006. He will dole out rewards to allies and punishment to adversaries ruthlessly. An ugly model, to be sure, in the post-partisan wonderland we await.

RAHM EMMANUEL IS A TAX DODGER
He declared his Chicago home to be the hQ of a charitable foundation so he pays no property tax
pass this along at every mention of this great anticapitalist egalitarian
So, that means that Emmanuel will become the Martin Borman in this convoluted and thoroughly disreputable socialist/communist administration.
“He was one of the big recruiters of Democratic candidates who actually favor the second amendment”
What’s wrong with that?
Maybe this is a GOOD move!
I think these stories are a little unfair. Rahm plays dirty politics, but that is back room stuff. Ideologically he’s center-left. He fought for both welfare reform and NAFTA and he’s been the key person championing pro-life Democrats like Heath Schuler.
On the night after the 1996 election, “Emanuel was so angry at the president’s enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting ‘Dead! ... Dead! ... Dead!’ and plunging the knife into the table after every name.”[2] His “take-no-prisoners attitude” earned him the nickname “Rahm-bo”.[16]
Well, at least Israel can settle down, Rahm Emmanuel’s father served with the Irgun, Rahm served for a short while with the IDF.
See post #7.
You think NAFTA is a GOOD thing?

The way in which an adversary fashions his weapons certainly does tell allot about how he intends to win his battles.
So for now we all have to avoid jumping in opposition TODAY (or else we'll be painted as the sour grapes cause of the “problem”) and wait for the first time that his sharp elbows are deployed and THEN we have to call out this punk and oppose his hateful “partisanship” LIKE HELL from that point onward.
Well, I wish he was a Republican.
We could use such........fire!!!!

As we know Communist intrigue plays out the same way every time ~ the ideology itself is a zero sum game with only one conclusion ~ that the Vanguard of the Proletariat shall consist of one person.
It would be very surprising to see the power struggles at the White House in the Obama Regime work out any other way than to follow the classical Communist model.
Odds are good that Rahm will take out Obama short after Teddy passes on to his rewards.
Err, no, I was referring the actions that Emmanuel took.
Obama is too slick a guy to let his real personality show. He has the ability to morph into whatever his audience expects to hear.
I think most Americans were tired of Bush’s incompetence and inability to communicate, blamed the economic mess on him - rightly or wrongly, and didn’t buy a tired old man who couldn’t communicate, lacked charisma and didn’t connect the dots for them.
They went for the slick snake-oil salesman. Hopefully some conservatives took notes. Conservatives are great and right on when it comes to governmental principles and theories - and babes in the woods when in comes to political Realpolitick.
Rumor has it Rahm may refuse because he wants to be ‘Speaker of the House’
Interesting plot twist...
A poll that asks if Obama can bring us all together.

Located on right side of page just a bit of the way down.
Total votes cast is 139 so should be easy to move the numbers.
Will President-elect Barack Obama succeed in bridging partisan differences to move the country forward?
