Life will not go on

Barack Obama was elected president despite the fact he supports abortion into the fourth trimester.

Either the 63 million people voting for him didn't know about his radical record, which includes abandoning abortion survivors to die, didn't care, or didn't believe it.

Meanwhile all three state pro-life initiatives failed Tuesday: the California Abortion Waiting Period and Parental Notification Initiative, the Colorado Equal Rights Amendment (defining personhood as beginning at conception) and the South Dakota Abortion Ban Initiative.

And both state anti-life initiatives passed: the Michigan Stem Cell Initiative (allowing human embryo experimentation) and the Washington Death with Dignity Initiative (allowing physician assisted suicide).

Altogether, this means we are fooling ourselves if we think the United States is still a Christian nation. Its people just elected a barbarian as president, authorized the killing of both its youngest and sickest, rejected scientific fact that human life begins at conception, blocked parental intervention of abortions of young girls, and voted down the wording of an abortion ban they said only two years ago they would support.

Bush continued and took the unconstitutional practice of the Presidential Signing Statement to new heights.

1) What is a Presidential Signing Statement?

2) Re your contention that Bush lost popularity because of the Patriot Act, I'm sceptical because it affected so few people.

How do we convince our family and friends?

Some people on FR have said that those people voting for O are dead to them or they don’t associate with them, but that hardly seems like what Jesus would want and isn’t going to help the unborn.

I live near Colorado Springs and Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion types were FLOODING our mail boxes and radio stations with ads condeming the “personhood” initiative. It was overwhelming; they were truly scared and they used scare tactics like “they’re going to take away your birth control pills.”

That’s the problem now with the Republicans ... everything is doom and gloom ... God is still on His throne ....

1) God is on his throne when countries sink to the worst depravity.

2) Our Father and Jesus spent a lot of time talking doom and gloom.

Someone on FR is compiling a list of liberal-supporting companies.

I’m still waiting for that.

They will not get any of our money, if I can help it.

I guess the Catholic Bishops really have very little influence on their flock.

Does anyone have data on whether the Bishops who spoke against O influenced anybody.

That’s both shocking and depressing.

An even smaller % vote pro-abortion, but the 70 - 80% in the middle don't care.

It has plenty to do with this thread. WND has no credibility as far as I’m concerned. They’re a joke.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_signing_statement

Presidential Bush created a constitutional controversy by adding signing statements to bills that in effect said, “This is how I interpret the bill and intend to enforce it (or not)”, which was sometimes at variance from how congress intended the bill to be enforced. It will eventually have to be decided by the Supreme Court.

Actually, the Patriot Act affects every American. Not just heightened security at airports and bus terminals, but the authorization of warrant-less surveillance, wiretapping and databasing of Americans has reached ridiculous heights.

Before, if you made four domestic long distance phone calls a month, one of them on average would be examined by the NSA, with text analysis, and solely for national security reasons. The Patriot Act changed that so that any phone calls you make can be monitored without cause, and evidence gathered for potential prosecution for any sort of crimes.

They have really overdone it, and their needs to be a severe curtailment of domestic intelligence operations by organizations like the CIA, the US Army, and a dozen other agencies whose functions have no bearing on domestic crime.

Assuming what you say about the wide-spread influence of the Patriot Act to be true, its affects are invisible to almost everybody so I doubt it would be high on the priority list of the electorate.

Are we going to say that the people who voted for O were blind about all manner of issues, but somehow they could see the Patriot Act clearly for what you say it is. It doesn’t hit you in the face like the 40% loss in retirement savings.

If you had a chance to listen to Rush today, the “buyer’s remorse” has already started in the DBM. I wonder how long it will take the rest of the population, or if some of them will ever get it.
