Partisanship has trumped ideology on the Right since Goldwater lost. Pre-neocon conservatism will gain no traction in the GOP until Obama decides that Nation Building, spreading of democracy to the turd-world (at taxpayer expense), and general military adventurism are "progressive" goals - in part because they grow the government. Likewise for government intrusion in the form of the Patriot Act.

And even then, when we are treated to the Medicare-expanding, big-brothering, nation-building, deficit-spending Hussein W. Obama, the collective sanity in the GOP will be fleeting - once Republicans regain power (on a tidal wave of small-government conservatism that carried Bush to power - ughh), they will squander their mandate by expanding government just like Bush. Why? Because we will again actually be led by unprincipled, but "electable", Republican moderates who mouth the right platitudes but who will act to gain the sympathies only of the left and the media (in the rare instances there is a difference). You will be admonished again to shut up and send money, and take one for "the team". Best case scenario is that your efforts are rewarded by some rino neocon ***hole like Bush being elected.

Don’t assume that Barr votes would go to McCAin if Barr was not running... Many, if not all of those votes would have sat out the presidential vote as they would not support McCain. Period. Probably close to 70% of Barr’s support would not go to McCain.

I would not concede until every military and overseas vote had been counted

Infact I would demand that our military votes be counted not just in tight election

as those in VA have not been counted yet and maybe those in NC and FL

Not to be a jerk, but it doesn’t matter

As a resident of Indiana, it matters to me. At least, me and my fellow Hoosiers don't have to share in the shame of being a blue state.

very true

here in FL the snow birds vote in their old state and then move down here in time for thanksgiving for the warm weather and vote again
some of them were caught last year for it
then add in the illegals voting
then add in the ACORN vote as many times as you can during early voting then it would swing this state much more

then add in the rich northerners who have property down here for get aways or rentals who use their address here to vote in this state they do not live

early voting should be done away with IMHO
it makes it easier for cheating

“Most Republicans agree with you, which is why they went down hard on Tuesday. If the Republicans want to be relevant again, they need to offer a choice (Paul) not an echo (McCain).”

So are you saying that if we nominated a kook (paul) who’s nuttier than a jar of chunky peanut butter that we would have won on Tuesday?

Paul is a joke.

He’s all for term limits unless they apply to him.

He’s for sticking millions worth of earmarks for the Trans Texas Highway AKA NAFTA Super Highway into the budget so then he can vote against it and still get his money.

He’s a two faced lying fraud who is a disgrace to the very party he claims to be a member of.

Florida is a difference of 235000 votes without the provisional, military, or absentee counts included.

If these close states had gone to the Marxist Onada, the dems would have taken the results to court. So what does our erstwhile former warrier do—he just walks away. It truly is breathtaking.

If the RNC doesn't change the way our nominee is chosen they are doomed to repeat their mistakes.

I don't think we can afford to wait for the RNC to change the process on their own, they likely won't. How can we convince them to change the process? We need to take back the Republican party and we will have to start with making sure RINOs don't get nominated to begin with in order to do that.

So did it truly switch or not? I’m a native Hoosier myself and feel as you do about the shame of Indiana turning blue.

I voted for Paul in the primaries but, like everyone else who is sensible, realized that in the general election you close ranks behind the person who was nominated and vote accordingly.

“Does anyone else want to slap those who voted for Bob Barr?”

Were not talking Ross Perot here. Bar supporters have been a pain in the A## calling in to talk radio, and high-jacking conversations on forums like FR, but their overall numbers were insignificant. Barr received 487,101 votes or 0.4% of the vote. It would not have done any good if McCain could have gotten all of Barr's votes.

thanks for that
any idea on if NC has voted their absentee and military ballot yet as it is really close there too

how many did VA go down by , off the top of my head wasn’t it 150,000 or 200,00 which if so then those tens of thousands still couldn’t turn VA

I know obama has won and I know we would still need OH,CO but it does make a difference to close the winning margin on obama so as to reduce their landslide B/S they are doing

OH I am sure has a couple of a hundred thousand illegal votes too

for anyone in the know

is there no way for the GOP to look at these votes and see how many were illegal?

agreed
I as amazed that he gave up so quick maybe that why Palin wasn’t happy plus not winning
she’s a fighter which is one of the reason I love the woman

He should have not gave anything away until those military votes are counted in VA,FL,NC and then appealed the decision in OH for illegal votes of which I am sure there are loads

I’m a Hoosier now, too.

It was bad enough that my beloved state of OHio, where I was born and raised, turned blue and went to the dark side...but now - living in Indiana for the past 16 years...I can’t fathom it turning blue, too!!

SheThink13 - I think I remember you from the March for Justice ten years ago....if I remember correctly, you were the “nice lady”....according to my then young sons, who brought candy to them for Halloween.
