Race for RNC Chairman Open Thread
The St. Louis Conservative Morning-Herald | November 7, 2008 | Me

Posted on 11/07/2008 7:42:39 AM PST by St. Louis Conservative

The following names have been bantied about regarding the race for the RNC Chair:

Katon Dawson - South Carolina GOP Chair

Newt Gingrich - former Speaker of the House

Jim Greer - Florida GOP Chair

Saul Anuzis - Michigan GOP Chair

Each one has their strong points and weak points. I love Newt, but I don't know if he's suited for the chairmanship. It seems like we need a talented grassroots organizer to build the party from the ground up. Of course fundraising is an important skill as well.

Please post your thoughts.

I want Newt. He has the brains, the vision and he can do it all. Nobody can articulate the views of conservatives better than Newt.

Did you forget who the DNC Chair is? No one is more divisive and mean than Howard Dean. He HATES Republicans. Newt HATES Liberalism, not Democrats. Big difference.

We need some divisiveness in the RNC chair, one who will not tolerate RINOs and one who knows how to WIN with Conservatism.

I think Newt is a great choice when he’s not on a general ballot.

Ask Haley Barbour who he thinks would be good. Haley and Evelyn McPhail were the grassroots of the 1994 campaign. She died in a car wreck in 1997 or 1998. Find someone like Miss Evelyn. She was a great lady and the best!

Newt all the way! No other choice, if he wants the job it should be his. His ideas and intellect are second to none. He can articulate our positions better than anyone in the party.

we need divisive

big tent ain’t done shite

and will folks here ever quit with color picks?

Steele...maybe but half his allure is his skin color

and that doesn’t do crap either

it won’t bring the media or blacks over...not a damned one

much as I saw in the poll firefights, freepers can be incredibly child like and transparent

The RNC Chair isn’t running for political office. He is the guy behind the scenes who works at fund raising, articulating the vision of the party, setting the agenda and recruiting candidates. Nobody can do this better than Newt. It’s time that the face of the party represent true converatism and not some mushy mouth middle of the roader.

Why would we want anyone from a state that went blue in Tuesday’s election? Doesn’t show very good organizing skills or the fact that they didn’t investigate ACORN fraud when it was right in their face.

No thanks to anyone that chaired the GOP in a Blue State. In fact, NO to almost anyone chairing a State GOP including the one from our bright red state of Oklahoma. Have you seen most of our State GOP organizations? For the amount of money spent on Victory 08, the return was not very good.

We need a spokesman who is articulate, can get on TV, who will clean out the RNC and make it run leaner and meaner. What happened to the RNC Research arm which was so great in 2002/2004? That spokesman has to go after the ACORN voter fraud with a vengance and not leave any stone

Bet 95% of the people cannot even name who is currently Chair but they would know Howard Dean.

Newt is a known quantity who gets the job done like Contract with America. He would get on TV unlike what has been happening and would bring a strong conservative message.

If you want more of the same, have a State GOP Chair who no one has heard of be the RNC Chair.
