Palin gone, anything but forgotten
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 11/7/8 | Carla Marinucci

GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin returned home in defeat to Wasilla, Alaska, on Wednesday night - leaving behind eyebrow-raising tales about towel-clad appearances and internal campaign feuds.

Palin had barely touched down when conservative Web sites began hawking defiant bumper stickers: "I'll keep my guns, freedom and money. You can keep 'The Change': Palin 2012." It's 1,460 days until the next election, and loyal Palinmaniacs have already kicked off the palin4pres2012.com Web site and mailing list.

Emerging from her plane, Palin was met with chants of "2012! 2012!" She left herself a very big open door when asked about her plans in four years.

"We'll see what happens then," she told reporters.

But even as she hedged, stories emerged this week that threatened to collapse Palin's carefully cultivated pit bull-with-lipstick, moose-hunter, hockey-mom, maverick image.

Among the stories reported by Fox News and Newsweek magazine:

-- She showed up in front of John McCain campaign aides "wearing nothing but a towel."

-- She sent campaign staff on a shopping spree for her family that insiders described as the "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast."

-- She was so shockingly ignorant of basic geography that aides prepping her for her single debate realized she didn't know that Africa is a continent and not a country, nor could she identify the countries that comprise North America.

Palin released a statement calling the accusations "so unfortunate and, quite honestly, sickening. ... The accusations we are reading are not true."

Conservative icon and author Richard Viguerie, who heads conservativehq.com - and who has called Palin "the new Ronald Reagan" - dismissed the reports Thursday and defended Palin as a figure who will continue to have enormous clout with conservatives.

The McCain campaign staffers that leaked this trash need to have a white-hot spotlight trained on them and exposed for the cockroaches they are so they never work in the industry again.

Fox and Newsweak failed the most basic test of journalism: to report the “who, what, where, and when” - and to seek information on both sides of a story.

Instead they reported anonymous rumors from political operatives.

Fortunately Gov. Palin’s future is not up to them. It’s up to her, and us.

Omigod, what a pile of crap, but since the story is printed out of San Francisco, I'm not surprised.

You know, anyone with a functioning brain would LAUGH at the IDEA that Ms. Palin would answer the door wearing a towel as reported, and that she would have so little modesty ("being part of the boys" my arse.), a married woman with children & soon-to-be grandchildren!

But the myth-makers move right along, don't they? It's not enough that they tried to destroy her BEFORE the election. No, now they want to bury the "corpse" for any future consideration. What a bunch of slimey, bottom-feeding, unethical, disgusting human beings they are.

If she were a man, instead of woman, this statement would never have been made. As such, I infer the "campaign aides" are male-chauvinists. Furthermore, as the "campaign aides" actually complained of being greeted at the door by a beautiful woman wearing little more than in a towel, I infer they are also completely gay. So, either they are homosexual sexist pigs, or more likely, they are working for the "Romney in 2012" camp and feel the need to take her down. It's insidious either way and representative of why this election (and perhaps the next) ends poorly.

Suppose sarah came to answer the door in a towel...Would you be upset?
I know I sure wouldn’t be!

I am not usually a big supporter of the so-called sexism charge, but it is quite clear that there is definitely a gender-based, double-standard being applied to Governor Palin.

It is not just related to this current cheap “scandal”, but is used in criticisms of her qualifications, intellect and even her speaking voice and vocal inflection.

You can see it even here on FR.

I was going to say the exact same thing. What kind of man complains about being greeted by a beautiful woman in a towel at the door? It's most men's fantasy, so I submit that these are not men if the story is even true.

McCain is silent while the media is going on and on saying Sarah was the cause of his loss according to “unnamed sources” in McCain’s camp! Simple conclusion: McCain/RNC used Sarah and then let her get trashed without a word of support because they must blame her. Besides, she just wasn’t liberal enough of a conservative!

It sure would be fun to see a vote result from all the 56,000,000 Americans I voted with in a choice between McCain vs Palin. I believe the result would be nice for McCain/RNC to see. Something like 55,999,990 votes for Sarah to 10 votes for McCain. But wait, I want to make sure my numbers are correct. Does McCain have more than 10 family members?

It is time to move on and continue to fight for real conservative candidates and I was ready to start at about midnight on November 4th!

Go listen to this interview with Joe the plumber. You might want to join his new watchdog organization like I did!

I am glad Mccain did not win. I can’t imagine those aides in control of the White house and the party...

This is just sickening.

So the “talking points,” jumped on by McCain weenie slimes and even Rendell, was that the “rube from Alaska lost the election for our guy.”

Man, that is beyond despicable! The election would have been a 50 state landslide without her! The only reason I sent them bucks was because of Palin.

Unreal... They go back to their next cocktail at the Palm, and she goes out and shoots and guts a moose. Guess who I want in my foxhole when the “incoming” starts?

They are all Homos!

One of my fondest memories is when I delivered Airline ticket for a travel agency. I used to drop some off at a very upscale house and it always seemed the beautiful college age daughter would answer the door in a terry cloth towel and her hair wrapped up.You could smell the pricey and fragrant shampoo she used. She was a real looker and it always made my day for her to answer the door.I always tried to deliver tickets at noon there because it seemed thats when she took a shower. 22 years ago and I can remember her exactly.
Yea they are gayest “Republican” weasels ever. And liars.

“You can see it even here on FR.”

Sad, isn’t it. They seem to be big McCain/Rino supporters, did you notice? Remind them of this:

Palin More Popular With GOP Voters Than McCain
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2126452/posts

[snip]Twenty-three percent (23%) of Republicans say McCain was not the right choice for the party, while 18% say the same of Palin.

Seventy-one percent (71%) of Republicans say John McCain made the right choice by picking Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate
