Say what you will about President George W. Bush, but I don't recall him ever mocking an elderly widow in his pronouncements. But Barack Obama couldn't get through his first press conference as president-elect without doing just that.
Answering a question from Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times as to the presidents he has consulted during the transition, Obama took a gratuitous jab at Nancy Reagan.
BARACK OBAMA: In terms of speaking to former presidents, I've spoken to all of them that are living, obviously President Clinton--I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances.

Making fun of a frail, widowed, broken-hipped, little old lady with more grace in her withered left pinky than he has in his entire body...WOW, what a tough guy he is, what a man! Damn, but Putin must be quaking in fear about dealing with Obama, no need to worry about those missiles that’ll be pointed at Poland, nosiree, Putin’s going to have them removed ASAP, otherwise Obama might make fun of HIS mother.
While Nancy Reagan was never my favorite person in the world, what I currently think of Obama simply isn’t fit for discussing in mixed company.
What do you want to bet that we’ll eventually hear reports that his handlers will be taking him aside and coaching him to act like an adult.

Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times. Obama asked her how she got hurt and she said she slipped running to his speech in Grant Park. Obama rather humorlessly replied along the lines that it was the only incident he was aware of from that evening.
She told him on live TV, during that question, that she hurt her elbow running to one of his rallies. Not sarcasm.
One would hope but most libs are like middle school girls.

Obama is obviously not a man of good humor. But when he does attempt humor it is almost exclusively focused on mocking others. Unlike Bush, Obama rarely pokes fun at himself.

Thanks, Ancesthntr. By your handle, I’m guessing you’re a genealogist—one who obviously knows his/her stuff! When writing the item, I did a quick Google search that showed Mrs. Reagan’s DOB as 1923, but after reading post went to Wiki that shows 1921. I’ve gone back and changed the headline at NB.

I too have stopped watching network and cable news except for FOX. Since the election, I won’t even watch FOX anymore. I get my info from Rush Limbaugh and a few reliable websites. The less I see and hear Obama, the better I feel.

My only news source is FR. I don’t watch TV at all. Not even regular programming.
