Researchers are launching a $21 million study to determine the impacts of a warming climate on Nevada and its precious water supply.
The five-year project ...

Nick Lancaster, a desert geomorphologist at DRI and project investigator, said the study will try to pinpoint effects on people and ecosystems.

Plans call for monitoring stations to be established in north-central Nevada and southern Nevada. The stations would monitor aspects of climate change at different elevations and landscapes.
Temperatures, wind speed, precipitation, solar radiation and soil moisture would be measured.
Instruments attached to trees will measure their growth, while webcams will record when plants sprout from the ground.

What’s a desert geomorphologist make a year? cool title.
Okay, we are told there is no global warming anymore and that the glaciers are growing, but they are getting megabucks to study warming.
I’m so confused!
Well, let’s see...hot weather + dry desert climate = increased water usage. What did I leave out?
Scamming a trillion $ in carbon credits from US taxpayers
What the hell is a 5 year study going to do?? Oh, yeh...provide hefty paychecks in exchange for a "damage report".
Let me get this straight. You move your ass into the middle of a frickin desert. Then you hire some idiot at a Five figure salary to tell you that your running out of water because you moved into the damn desert. Wow..what a gig.
Nevada is The Great Basin. We have rivers (Humboldt) that stop in the middle of the state in what are called "sinks". Others end in lakes (Trukee, Walker). There is no outlet to the sea.
Southern Nevada Water District plans a $2 billion water pipeline from north-central Nevada aquifers to the south. It bought up water rights to entire desert valleys because there is water underground. The Las Vegas metropolitan area needs more than the Colorado River can supply.
Tapping the northern aquifers is a big deal to enviro whackos.

percipitation has been increasing slightly since 1930 and temp is basically unchanged (+.11 degree/decade)
Take a look at this site-

Lyon County in N Nevada was the nation’s fastest growing county in 2004-2006. Las Vegas (Clark County) was right behind Lyon Co.
The state of Nevada has had tremendous growth in the past 5 years, alot of it from Kalifornia firms moving east, and alot of retirees coming east.
The attitude that Kalifornia brought was that they could have the same “landscaping” they had on the coastal zones od Kalifornia. They also are foolish with other water uses, inside the home. They have used tremendous amounts of water.
Yeah, but who's taking over his posting police duties?
That’s the ticket!
Bunch of idiots.
I predict that they’ll find that Nevada is rather dry.
Had Democrat streetwalkers knock on my door every day for 5 days before the election.
Today in the Las Vegas Review Journal the article was about all the Kalifornia lefties coming to Henderson in mass to streetwalk southern Nevada.
Then it refered to my town as "the mean streets of Bouldrer City".
Guess that's because this city of barely 16,000 is registered Republican 2 to 1.
