Mitt Romney would have broken Barack Obama like a cheap toy.

Despite the image problems facing the Republican Party, the former Massachusetts Governor would have conquered Obama without breaking a sweat. In a time of economic turmoil, voters would have turned to Romney to steer the country through choppy fiscal waters.

Romney was the thinking man’s choice for the GOP nomination. A success in both the business and political worlds, Romney presented the best opportunity to revive the Reagan vision in years. Like Obama, Romney was a handsome, well-spoken, highly intelligent figure who held out hope for a positive future.

It’s a deep shame that Romney couldn’t seal the deal in the GOP primaries. His exit from the race was a harsh blow to the Republican Party and to the country itself. Today, conservatives are questioning whether Obama will govern from the center or from the hard left. Had Romney been the GOP nominee, no one would have had an opportunity to ask that question.

Romney was a dynamic, visionary leader in the private and public sectors, a big-picture thinker and a committed conservative. As President, he would have stimulated the economy, reinforced the country’s security bulwarks and advanced the goals of those who believe in a culture of life. In addition to maintaining the support of the GOP base, he would have easily attracted moderates and independents, thus denying Obama the Presidency.

Remember Romney’s soul-stirring speech on faith and his peerless performances in the GOP primary debates? Imagine how Romney would have performed against Obama in the Presidential debates. He would have disciplined Obama, pointing out the inherent foolishness of his economic positions and ridiculing his liberal vision of the federal judiciary. Obama would have felt like he came out on the bad end of a Chicago street fight.

McCain’s big problem was he was a moderate RINO.. how would a moderate RINO Romney make any difference.. he may have gained a percent being slicker and a better speaker, but I doubt the final result would be different.

I really don’t know how Romney would have done in the general. I have got to believe he would have done better than McCain who, IMO, had a big “kick me” sign on his rear. The change we should all be discussing, though, is closing our primaries. The reason we got stuck with McCain is that WE DIDN’T PICK HIM. If he hadn’t named Palin as his VP he would have been creamed in the general.
We must close our primaries to people who are not registered R’s. They got the candidate they wanted to face and they won.

Romney is the Republican Clinton. He’ll say anything to get elected.

Right!

End of the line, troll, with all the other faceless, cowardly, elitist Palin-bashing trolls.

We need to stop the Dems from being able to cross over in the primaries.

Exactly.

Oh dear God are we going to have to deal with this guy all over again too?

He’s the gray haired version of Rick Perry and I’m not impressed with him either.

Its easy to play Monday morning quarterback. Unfortunately McCain was the MSM favorite republican, add to that the RINO's and country-club republicans are doing all they can to destroy the conservative/evangelical influence within the party and it adds up to a complete uphill battle. Until the GOP rediscovers conservatism and realizes that RINOs DON'T win anything outside the Northeast, we're doomed to minority party status.

Bottom line is the GOP needs to stop being liberal-lite and start being Reagan conservative again.

“Romney could have picked Ronald Reagan as his VP and been running against Stalin and I still wouldn’t have voted for him.

But I voted for John McCain.”

That does not make any sense whatsoever. True, Romney was not a perfect candidate (we had flawed candidates all around) but McCain was a RINO’s RINO, the essence of what a true RINO actually is. Maverick, my a$$.

A ticket made up of Romney and Jindal would have been much more competetive than what we were left with. McCain was BY FAR my very last choice, and when he was forced upon us I knew we were in huge trouble, because McCain would be forced to try throughout his entire campaign to shore up the base instead of the usual “base in the bag, let’s move a bit to the middle to pay lip service to Independents” way. I had to hold my nose and throw up a few times when I voted for McCain. Romney would have had no lasting problem with the base (not the way McCain did) and with a good running mate like Jindal and a coherent message on the economy (which Romney was made for) it could have been won. If nothing else, Romney would have run a quality campaign, not the complete disaster that the McCain campaign was.

And I would have thought there’s no way a radical leftist could become President until they solve the communism problem.

I'm not so sure he would have beaten Obama. Non the less, If he had been nominated, Sarah would still be just that interesting governor up there in Alaska. The conservative base would not have been nearly as jazzed (if at all). The 'conservative' pundits would have been pleased (like I really care anymore) and the party would have slouched along as usual trying to be bipartisan and unifying.

What I want now is for Barry to reach his hand across the isle and pull back a nub, having found out that Alaska isn't the only place to find pit bulls.

I honestly thought Mitt ran the primary gauntlet this year just to get the mormon stuff in the rearview mirror, so he could give it a go in 2012. Trouble is, with his little milquetoast faith speech this article extols, he put nothing in the rearview mirror. The temple rituals, the planet kolob, the god who is a flesh-and-blood copulator — and a hundred other unorthodox beliefs that are normal for mormons (but twilight-zonish to most everyone else), far from being over and done with, still loom ahead for Mitt if he chooses to run again. He had a chance to make it “old news” in 08, but I think he chose not to because he thought he might win with the glossed-over, generic little speech he gave.
Anybody who thinks the dems and the press would not have gone over him with a microscope and klieg lights must have missed the colonoscopy they gave Sarah Palin.
There are those who say, “Well, they didn’t do it to him in the Mass. Gov. race.” Totally different ballgame. The nazi libs and press are only concerned with the national level of power.

"No way a Mormon could become President not until they solve the polygamy thing"

But a half-breed, Marxist with Muslim roots and questionable citizenship can ?

Some of us here in FR spoke out using such words as Satanic, evil and a few others and we were pretty much given short shrift for what we thought and spoke about.

The child of God may not be always able to use the correct words, but he/she does have a God givin' Spirit of discernment.

WAKE UP!

Romney is a freakin’ charlatan.

I wouldn’t vote for him if he were running against Mao Tse Tung. And there are millions like me.

Give up the Mitt Fetish. Mitt’s days as a wanna be standard bearer are over.

It’s easy to say Romney would have been better when Romney wasn’t facing a media that was 100% in the tank for Obama. Believe me, they would have found a way to negatively spin every one of Romney’s so-called positives.
