He should do this, for heck's sake. It's the culmination of his open-book life's work, and it's what he campaigned saying he was going to do, in consequence of which he won a big victory.
If we conservatives can get one good thing from Obama, maybe it will be his inspiring Americans to trust that politicians can campaign as they believe and govern as they campaign, and thereafter take the judgment of the people as to whether or not they were successful -- something on which Republicans have fallen down upon profoundly.
Now we just have to find candidates who can offer not only that compact of philosophical integrity, but a strong reason to believe that they have the intellectual depth and flexibility necessary to make to apply their philosophy to inherently unpredictable challenges.
