rest assured, obama will NOT be blamed for anything that occurs on his watch. it will all be bush’s fault, obama was just dealt a bad hand..watch and see..
Not that cynical at all. McCain never really wanted to win the election and become President all that badly.
no, not forward thinking enough to lose on purpose and not smart
enough to win.
And in keeping with my cynical point of view, I wonder if this is why the split with Sarah Palin came in. She is very conservative and from her perspective it would be better to win the Presidency to atleast control the Court nominations and control atleast one branch of Presidency.
She seems less cynical in life and is like a straight shooter. This may have seemed “too Washington” to her.
I have been thinking the same thing.
Why would McCain WANT to inherit the many problems, as well as a dem-controlled congress?
Let the One take the heat.
On the bright side, It means we don’t have to worry about having to defend John McCain for the next 4 years...
The Democrats, with their subprime mortgages, made the economy mess we are in. They did it on purpose to win the election. However, I think they have more of a mess than they bargained for.
They didn’t try hard enough and started too late in the game.
I’m hearing a lot of that type of sentiment.
If so, it was a very expensive way to lose.
Ah darn, you figured it out. How long do you think it will take for the Democrats to do likewise?
Not cynical at all. It’s very plausible.
McCain, being the more pragmatic, may have thrown the election. You’d have to be certifiably insane to WANT to be President at this juncture anyway.
One one could hardly blame him if he did.
Unlike others, I don’t blame Obama for this financial meltdown, at least not directly. It took 15 years to set up this perfect storm. Republicans and a LOT of Dems are complicit. And since they all have their hands in this, we’ll probably not see any serious investigations (not that’s cynical).
If not McCain himself, definitley some of his staff and RNC operatives.
My opinion this is why McCain lost. It's that simple. If this was the democrats October Surprise it sure worked.
Well if this economic cycle follows most economic cycles, then he should be riding a wave of success going into ‘12. Economic cycles tend to ebb and flow despite what the government does.
Whether or not it was intentional, I think the GOP dodged a small bullet. The most prolonged economic downturn since the Great Depression will not be hung around a new GOP Presidency. But we put ourselves right in the way of a bigger bullet, which is an Obama regime that desires to undo the First Amendment civil liberties enjoyed by the right.
We’ll see. Jimmy Carter was impotent to deal with the Iranian hostage crisis, and presided over double digit inflation, doubling of gas prices during his term, and a 21% prime interest rate. And Reagan defeated him in a landslide. The voters certainly didn’t want Jimmy for another four years. If Obama presides in the same way, presiding over bad economic times, is tested and found impotent by Joe Biden’s foreign crisis test, or other factors, the voters may have a different view of Obama down the road.
