Jindal had to be FORCED into the tax cut and the pay raise veto.

Governing in this republic is the art of compromise. He does need a certain amount of good will from the legislature.

How long has it been since the legislature had a raise? Did it make sense to support the raise? (unfortunately there is no merit raise policy for legislatures).

On the tax cut; where does La. stand in relationship to other states on taxes. A tax cut although almost always a good idea does not necessarily make sense if you are already very competitive and your state has just been hit by a hurricane.

Legislative pay raise? Blocking a tax cut? Are you saying that’s good? Are you admitting to being a Big Government type, too?

Tax cuts are ALWAYS good. Period. If a politician - of any party - tries to tell me otherwise, I need to know nothing else about him.

"(unfortunately there is no merit raise policy for legislatures)"

Or fortunately, when the Louisiana legislature is concerned:
if based on merit, they'd still be paid what they were sometime in the early 1800s...
