Obama Planning U.S. Trials for Guantanamo Detainees (bringing them to the US!)
Fox News via AP ^ | Monday, November 10, 2008 | AP unsigned article

WASHINGTON -- President-elect Barack Obama's advisers are quietly crafting a proposal to ship dozens, if not hundreds, of imprisoned terrorism suspects to the United States to face criminal trials, a plan that would make good on his promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison but could require creation of a controversial new system of justice.

During his campaign, Obama described Guantanamo as a "sad chapter in American history" and has said generally that the U.S. legal system is equipped to handle the detainees. But he has offered few details on what he planned to do once the facility is closed.

Under plans being put together in Obama's camp, some detainees would be released and many others would be prosecuted in U.S. criminal courts.

...

Laurence Tribe, a Harvard law professor and Obama legal adviser, said discussions about plans for Guantanamo had been "theoretical" before the election but would quickly become very focused because closing the prison is a top priority. Bringing the detainees to the United States will be controversial, he said, but could be accomplished.

Again I write: I really have to wonder when someone in the shadow government or in a powerful hidden military group is going to say enough.

God is judging this nation (that’s all of us); and yes, I did not vote for him. I’m not part of the “we.”

I predict that an army of millionaire Ivy league lawyers (that most of us will NEVER see no matter what crime we commit) will await their cases and get the majority of them off.

Then they’ll bill us for their services...

Of course they will get ALL the benefits of U.S. citizens. This despite the fact that some may have KILLED our soldiers!

Taking prisoners was our mistake.

All Americans are a part of the "we". Americans voted in Obama. American citizens, all of whom had a God given right to choose their next president and most of whom chose a man who is likely to destroy this country and everything that was good about it.

I am a part of the "we". All of us are. We are all in some measure responsible, because we are all Americans.

Now the question is what are we going to do now? Are we going to sit still, or are we going to take a stand?

According to three advisers participating in the process, Obama is expected to propose a new court system, appointing a committee to decide how such a court would operate. Some detainees likely would be returned to the countries where they were first captured for further detention or rehabilitation. The rest could probably be prosecuted in U.S. criminal courts, one adviser said. All spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing talks, which have been private.

He made this stupid pledge to the moonbats and there's no middle ground. Either he has to establish a separate-but-equal set of special courts in the US (which the Dems will fight tooth and nail), or he has to get conservatives to agree that trying them in standard federal courts is OK, because the public will go nuts.

He has the majority... let's see him make unpopular decisions now that he has it! It's not just the Republican's throats he'll be jamming this down, it's everyone's. He'll soon understand why Bush did so many things the way he did in the War on Terror.

He should have waited on this issue... way to start your new administration Barry!

I guess we'll have to spend the next year calling and calling the congressmen and senators to listen to us to stop this crap, even if they are Democrats.

Bringing terrorists to the US for trial is bound to be VERY unpopular and a terrible way to ruin your honeymoon with the public.

Lets hope we have records of their names so we know who to blame when they regroup and attack US citizens.

Maybe they will sue the USA for unlawful imprisonment and will win millions.

I hear John Edwards is available

“I messed up when posting the article... sorry. I’ll ask the Admin Moderator to change the title.

Admin, can you change the last word in the title from “Chicago” to “the US”? Thanks.”

Don’t feel too bad, maybe Obama will take them to Chicago and they’ll get released there.

For that’s the only place we might see them actually get killed:)

I think that there may be a Patriot shadow government out there somewhere. Why do you think liberals have such a fear and hatred for this “shadow government” they worry about? I envision older, strong gray haired Generals that watch out for us. Could be wrong, but hope not.
On a world level their probably is a one world type of group but our military I believe contains a fair amount of Patriots most likely all the way up the chain and maybe shadowing it too.

Laurence “Lost” Tribe - as the Boston Herald’s and WRKO’s Howie Carr calls him - is back!

A Clinton apologist during impeachment days and a Gore lawyer before the Supreme Court during Election 2000, this hack’s hack is back again, like an anti-biotic proof virus! Probably one of Obamalinsky’s first nominees for SCOTUS!

Hopefully someone will research and resurrect the delicious story of when Howie Carr caught Tribe, Julia Child, and a bunch of the other Cambridge-Harvard “beautiful people” trying to block a Charter School for black kids from blighting their neighborhood!

Perhaps The One will find that interesting.

Oh wait ..... Principles over hypocrisy? In this Hope & Change Administration filled with Hopeless Clinton Re-treads? What was I thinking?!

LOL, good to laugh at such a terrible development. Can you imagine the fury if Bush did this?

I hope Hannity is on this tomorrow, and/or Rush.

I’m sure they’ll feel right at home in Chicago.

They can babysit his kids.
