Rejoice, they think the grant money will start flowing. $150,000 to study the mating habits of crickets, $5,000,000 to study global warming on a beach in the tropics ;). They don’t know he plans on breaking the bank first.

Boy, are you right. I’m in academe and I really think a lot of profs believe only a Dim will ‘properly’ fund research (read - blank check for whatever project I can dream up).

I think they have a surprise coming when they find out that in a poor economy, with reduced tax revenues and a population either out of work or already being taxed to the gills to fund social programs, there won’t be much left to study the tsi-tsi fly.

In my own field, we will lose the patronage of Laura Bush and most likely the big money over at the Institute of Museum and Library Services. No one here, not even the O supporters, thinks that just ‘cause O is in office that we will get the money we got under Bush.
