The great thing about this is that people in the South could care less about what this writer or the New York Times think.
They love life down there and love America and they aren’t racist. They just have a whole different set of values that the New York Times is clueless about. Personal Responsibility, Love for freedom, limited Govt. etc. etc. and that is who they vote for.
Liberals, most of whom need counseling and come from dysfunctional families, don’t get this and it make them very angry that people are happy while they (Liberals) are so miserable.
Carthage?
Pleasant Shade?
Gordonsville?

The NY Times can go to hell. The South doesn’t believe in Washington intervention and rule. They are just stirring up a bunch of old media crap.

I had a similar thought, which I expressed a little differently, as, "When finally the health authorities haul away your stinking, syphilitic fishwrap-mill to Fresh Kills for sanitary dumping, the South will still be there."
This is the sort of editorializing that was common in the years before the Civil Wars, and its purpose was akin to someone's standing in front of the white line urging the bus driver to "run them down, run them down!"

Actually, it's Pinch and his pack of catamites. Pinch Sulzberger took over from the old man at the end of the 80's, and the NYT immediately became The Gay Times Interplanetary. They stopped telling it straight about AIDS/HIV, stopped telling it straight about the gay caucus's war against America, and oh, by the way, they started hiring gays for their editorial staff.
A couple of years ago, a NYT editor, waxing smug and self-satisfied, noted in writing that some 3/4's of the NYT's front-page editors are now either gay or bi, and if closeted not very carefully so. The bottom-line effect of Pinch's hiring decisions is that the NYT is now officially not only "gay-friendly" but also "kink-normative".
And as a result, I predict that it's the "blue" (actually "pink") Northern cities that burn, not ours. Remember the 60's?
Well that explains a lot — Pinch’s butt-buddies are always doing to each other what they keep trying to do to us......

It’s time to adopt the “laager” strategy and move to deep red zones, far from the blue urban parasite zones. It’s the best we can do. The USA as a whole is not coming back, due to demographic shift.
You ‘re spot on. We live in Difficult, Just south of Pleasant Shade, a couple hundred yards from Bobby William’s tractors.
We have a daughter in Smith County High School and a son in Mrs. Russel’s Kindergarten in Defeated. I’m sure we know some of the same people.

Do we have the red/blue win by state/county map available anywhere on the internet? This map tries to make it look like everywhere but the South, Obama won the state. And that didn’t happen. All it is the difference in percentages from 2004, isn’t it.
But watch this make its way out to the ether saying “LOOK - only the South didn’t go whole hog for Obama!”
We aren’t as suicidal down here as the folks up North.
