Across the country Thousands in streets defend same-sex rights Right-wing churches bankrolled Prop. 8 in Calif. By Imani Henry Published Nov 12, 2008 2:26 PM
The election victory of Barack Obama will go down in history as a triumphant step forward in the struggle against racism and national oppression in the U.S. Unfortunately, it was also an election where more than 10 million voters in Florida, Arizona and California supported right-wing ballot initiatives to deny marriage rights to lesbian, gay, bi and trans people.
Thirty states now have constitutional bans on same-sex marriage. A proposal in Arkansas was also passed to stop gay men and lesbians from adopting children.
Prop. 8 was launched by ProtectMarriage.com to counter the California Supreme Courts May 15 ruling which deemed unconstitutional a 2000 ban on same-sex marriage. Vote Yes on Prop. 8 forces raised $35.8 million.
The ban won 52 to 48 percent.

(The people have spoken, then, I guess? Will this be overturned in the courts a SECOND time??)

As I think about this from a legal point of view, it occurs to me that, regardless of what the CA Supreme Court does, this is a fight in which neither side is ever going to give up. Ever. Where do you see it ending? I actually can’t, yet, answer that one myself
Worker’s World, eh. The commies are right on plan.
And they look fabulous as well.
What does one wear to a protest? Obviously sensible shoes...hello, Birkenstocks? A loose fit jean and a crisp polo shirt? Don’t forget the water bottles and sunblock (don’t want to freckle!!!)
What to wear, what to wear,
Oh, so many questions.
What to wear, what to wear, Oh, so many questions.
that’s gross...poor man doesn’t even know how lost he is...probably.
Me guesses - - this will have a perpetual place on the ballot here in California until one side simply gives up and stops caring.
Yeah. What ya think . . . 2066?
Uh.... is that a ‘sack of potatoes’???
He really needs to wear a bra..talk about saggy boobs :-)
You haven’t been oppressed until you’ve been a hetero working in an office in San Franpsycho.

“Saturday, Nov. 15, has been called as a national day of action against Prop. 8. In California, protesters are planning massive rallies at city halls all across the state.” from WorkersWorld.org by Imani Henry
What amazes me is that for hundreds of years men and women have been getting married in churches across the world and now the people in California wanted to hold true to this scared tradition only to have their city halls across the state be a rallying point by gay and lesbian activists who believe that somehow denying them the right to marry is about hate or lack of equality. Their attacks on God and his church are an outrage to me and I would rather they open their own little church somewhere and write their own little bible instead of perverting the word of God and the people who worship Him. I don’t know but those are just my thoughts.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
