It sounds like -- if you work for a private nonprofit institution, and the institution receives any Federal money, you then can't run for political office. Which would be stupid, unless we're supposed to institute a professional political "ruling class". I'm not a lawyer, but this seems completely insane.

What does the Hatch Act have to with a local, municipal elected position?

So what that decision is saying is that if I as an RN work for a non profit community Hospital, but I would like to run for public office...I couldn’t because the hospital recieves federal funds(ie medicare)?

That’s an incredible twisting of the law in book!
