Unbelievable: GOP governors sniping at Palin over press conference (Whining GOP govs)
HotAir.com ^ | 11/13/08 | Allahpundit

Posted on 11/13/2008 3:15:52 PM PST by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

To my fellow bloggers: The next time you get an e-mail from someone saying it’s time to organize a conservative netroots, bear in mind that it’s these morons, by and large, whom that person wants you to support. The same people who couldn’t muster a judgment on the bailout independent of Nancy Pelosi being a big meanie, the same people who can’t organize a press conference without having it descend into backbiting and recriminations.

Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity — but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.

One called it awkward: “I’m sure you could see it on some of our faces.”

Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was “odd” and “weird,” and said it “unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party.”

This isn’t about Palin, it’s about basic competence on messaging. The McCain camp couldn’t manage it and now the governors can’t either. Who’s left?

I'm sure more than a few democrats have privately said the same thing about Hillary & Obama over the past four years.

They just didn't have eager CNN reporters to complain to.

This isn’t how you bind up a party’s wounds.

There is such a thing as grace, and graciousness, and these guys don’t have it.

Of course, don’t leave out the news-writers. They’re fishing for this kind of “narrative” and dimwit Repubs fall right in. Of course, if they didn’t, the new-writers would make up the quotes anyway. Who’s to say it didn’t happen?

They need to get over it.
When one of them starts packing stadiums and gets millions of viewers to tune in on TV I will sit down and shut up until then they should use her to help the entire party.

Politicians in general are useless idiots. They all need to be be made to do the right thing. It does not come naturally to most of them.

Well, here we go again with the sources not being named. How do we even know those quotes came from a Republican Governor. Because CNN said so?

All I can say is if those quotes are true, those people may want to consider another line of work. Sarah is here to stay whether they like it or not.

Good gravy, did Sarah Palin knock out the featured speaker and hijack the conference somehow? Did she muscle her way to the podium to bogart the mic’?

This conference MIGHT have gotten a short noticed that it happened at all without Sarah. Every reporter was there waiting specifically to hear Sarah say ANYTHING.

That is why I don’t think she will win 2012 nomination. She should, but I don’t think she will get the support needed from RINOs and Independents and I am questioning if she could win Iowa and New Hampshire. Perhaps she should take some time off recoup and then come back next year ready to go.

According to my local conservative talk show, Pawlenty had to point out 4 times in about 2 minutes that the voters voted against Palin.

If this guy thinks I would vote for him in 2012 he is sorely mistaken.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.

I have learned something in an unforgettable way this last year and that is that these media outlets are perfectly capable of making up these stories all on their own.

No Governors are named. The "story" is sure to cause dissention in the ranks and people picking this up without question play right into the hands of the media and the left (same thing, I know).

Americans are generally conservative and yet we elected Obama and a Democrat congress. Very poor leadership from the leaders of a faux conservative party is the main reason.

Wake up, ROmneyBOT.

Those who attack now — and attacked pre Election2008—
Gov. Palin (and her children) were some of the

MALE GOP REPUBLICAN GOVs. and MITT Romney who was a GOV.

Not anonymous. No testicles. Some, like Romney,
venal backstabbers. Cowards.

THE ONLY ONE NAMED WAS GOV. PALIN.

This is why we need to replace the GOP with a new Conservative Party.

These clowns just don’t get it. They will work to sabotage Palin for 2012. I don’t want any one of them to be President.

The topic should have been how a disgrace like California’s governor could even show his face at a GOP governor’s conference.

Oh, and how many of these GOP governors rushed to Sarah’s defense when she was getting savaged last week?

Couple this stupidity with the GOP suing against McCain-Feingold NOW, instead of 2 years ago, just shows their incompetence.

And the RINOs that infest the leadership aren’t going anywhere.

Let’s have a Conservative Party that can showcase Palin/Jindal and that we can get behind.

I’m sick of dragging the GOP to where they need to be.

Oh brother. Romney is not even a governor anymore and was not at the convention. You better get better at your lies as they are not formulating very well lately. And who says Romney leads in 2012??? You??? I predict that nobody who has been anywhere near the 2008 disaster election will be chosen. We never know who is going to win until the primaries start. I guarantee nobody would have predicted McCain would have been our nominee on 14 November 2004. Romney, Huckster and others were not even on the radar screen. We have years to go before our nominee is even close to being chosen and I doubt it will be Romney, Huckster or Palin. It will be someone we have not even heard of yet.
