Republican Governors Pick Sanford as Chairman
Wall Street Journal ^ | 11/14/2008 | Susan Davis

Posted on 11/14/2008 9:16:22 AM PST by Al B.

The Republican Governors Association announced its new leadership lineup today after their annual meeting concluded Thursday in Miami.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford was voted RGA chairman, taking over the top job from Texas Gov. Rick Perry who will now serve as finance chairman. Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is vice-chairman, while Florida Gov. Charlie Crist will serve as chair for the annual RGA gala, and Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue will head up the recruitment effort.
.
.
.
Not on the list? Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who also attended the Miami meeting.

Some Republican governors grumbled to CNN that Palin’s presence at the meeting distracted from the broader display of unity they were seeking.

Good Choice. Though the little wussies complaining about Palin need to grow a pair.

This man will be the next Republican president.

However, I don’t know if it will be 2012 or 2016...that’s the tough one to call.

WOO HOO !!!

I hope Sanford runs for the Whitehouse in 2012. It would be nice to have an actual Conservative representing the GOP for a change.

If this is true, and Gov. Palin was treated as such,
I propose we begin a new party, the CONSERVATIVE PARTY.

I wanted Sanford to run for President this time after some of you on here recommended him. Now I am glad he didn’t because I don’t think we stood much of a chance although he would have been a better fighter.

Heading the RGA is perfect!

I don't think it's true, Dio. They are doing their "unnamed sources" again to get those of us who like Palin all upset and angry at the other ones. They want to keep us divided, that's all.

Superb choice. Sanford is a true conservative and has six years experience as governor. No current governor in the US is a better budget cutter than Sanford.

What is your take on Gov Palin?

It’s Susan Davis who raises the point about Sarah Palin. Another trouble-making liberal feminist reporter. Sarah doesn’t need this position. She needs to govern Alaska, do a good job in the energy and fiscal areas, and prepare for 2012 if things work out that way.

To me it looks like a good choice. RINO Charlie Crist was thrown a bone, but not a big one. The others are all good choices. Notice that Bobby Jindal wasn’t chosen, either. Why should he be? He, too, is a freshman governor, who needs more seasoning first.

I would like to see Palin as Energy Secretary in the next Republican administration.

If she can do for national energy policy what she did in Alaska she'll be a shoe-in for President.

I don't know if it's true or not, but it's JMO that it is.

She seems to have gotten the same sort of reaction from entrenched interests down here in the lower 48 that has already been documented up in Alaska in her rise to the governorship there.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity

. Which probably means CNN made the whole thing up. If not, any republican governor grumbling to CNN ought to be horsewhipped.

But what do you think about Sanford's “global warming” pronouncements?

Thanks!

They are all southern and mostly conservative.

Given the monopoly in the federal government, I believe that we may be entering a new power struggle where state's are going to have to band together and refuse to enforce/accept the unconstitutional laws that will be passed this year and next.

I think that this i the only way to combat a central government gone mad, and it is the next level of checks and balances that our founder's had in mind.
