There simply wasnt the donor base to support it, McCarthy said. And there are some rather interesting reasons why not. One, the federal campaign finance law that John McCain helped write has made it increasingly difficult to fund independent campaigns legally. Thus, McCains own law was used against him.

I’d rather be in Philadelphia(with the world champions Phillies)
Hussein had an incredible amount of money to use.
Only as his Presidency unfolds will we find out where it came from. (aka follow the money)
I don’t understand that “Swift Boating,” whatever it means in principle, necessarily must have anything to do wiht having “served,” whatever that means. It happened the John Kerry’s military record was the object of the original lie-fighting Swift Boaters, but the practice of setting straight a record of performance that has been grossly misrepresented can apply as well under the aegis of Swift Boating to the misrepresented, but largely obscured, life of Obama.
Kerry always wanted to be the center of attention and went out of his way to leave a trail behind him that would trip him up later.
Barack Obama, by contrast, was more of an "inhibitionist" (if that's a word).
He didn't leave much of a trail, stayed in the background, and let a mystique build around him.
I concur. Although, seeing how things are turning out, maybe he did not have the guts to be a leader at this time. He is and always was a liberal and ran an anemic campaign.
A small explosive device. That’s why the expression is, “Hoisted on his own petard.”
Hoisted, not hung.
Paraphrased per Wikipedia:
The word remains in modern usage in the phrase to be hoisted by one's own petard (or to hoist with one's own petard), which means "to be harmed by one's own plan to harm someone else" or "to fall into one's own trap", literally implying that one could be lifted up (hoisted, or blown upward) by one's own bomb. Shakespeare used the now proverbial phrase in Hamlet.
In medieval and Renaissance siege warfare, a common tactic was to dig a shallow trench close to the enemy gate, and then erect a small hoisting engine that would lift the lit petard out of the trench, swing it up, out, and over to the gate, where it would detonate and hopefully breach the gate. It was not impossible, however, that this procedure would go awry, and the engineer lighting the bomb could be snagged in the ropes and lifted out with the petard and consequently blown up. Alternately, and perhaps a more likely scenario, if the petard were to detonate prematurely due to a faulty or short slow match, the engineer would be lifted or "hoist[ed]" by the explosion.
Thus to be "hoist with his own petar" is to be caught up and destroyed by his own plot. Hamlet's actual meaning is "cause the bomb maker to be blown up with his own bomb", metaphorically turning the tables on Claudius, whose messengers are killed instead of Hamlet. Also note here, Shakespeare's probable off-color pun "hoisted with his own petar", i.e., fart, as reason for the spelling "petar" rather than "petard".
So, are you saying that O had no petard upon which he could be hoisted?
I think you're right. I think the sources of his money is one of those realities that will see the light of day sooner or later. Of course by that time, we may all be too busy trying to survive that we don't even notice it, except to give a quick ironic grunt as we hitch up our belts another notch and prepare ourselves for another 20 miles of trudging through the dark.
Ah yessss, my conservativecharleyguy. Thanks for the further info.
His would-be supporters simply complied with his stated wishes.
“So my FRIENDSH, I will shtill reach acrossh the aisle, to work with ash many other FRIENDSH ash I can, and I really mean it, FRIENDSH.”
Au contraire! We heard them all:
McCain is the lesser evil
He's better than b Hussein o
We cannot allow b Hussein o in the WH
He's not Bush!
He's not b Hussein o
If we don't vote for him, it's a vote for b Hussein o
b Hussein o is an islamofascist communist (or a variation on those terms)
McCain has now (finally) said, in his best campaign voice (choking back laughter) that he will seal the border, drill for oil, put the country first, respect conservatives and he's not Bush! So now it's okay to vote for him
Governor Sarah Palin
Ha! and all this time I though a petard was a pointy stick.
I don’t think we’ll ever find out where BO’s money came from—just like we never found out where Bubba’s came from.
GOP candidates have for too long hiding behind the skirts of bloggers, 501C-3’s and talk-show hosts to do their grunt work for them, while they remain “bipartisan” and “among the fray”. In a full-on Dem Thugocracy they are liable to have access to none of the above. Time to roll up your sleeves and learn to do the dirty work yourselves, guys.
Any last requests?
“Yes, I’d like to visit Paris...Philadelphia will do.”
About as well as that "Ditch Mitch" thing worked in Indiana. I'm still laughing about that and I have no interest in it one way or the other.
Ah yes, sorry, I'd forgotten about all those "conservative" policy positions. ;)
“Among the fray”?? I don’t think so.
