It's easy to assume that anyone who spends time here knows about the weekly Free Republic demonstrations of support for the troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Friday evenings. The buses returning from the dinners described in this story are duly welcomed and those rehabilitating at Walter Reed are given some small, visible sign of the gratitude of their country for their devotion and sacrifice.

For those who have not heard of these events please take the time to visit this link to the most recent report and peruse the reports of many past demonstrations of respect and gratitude to these great men and women of the American armed forces.

My hometown is involved in the Wounded Warriors Project and host a water festival for the soldiers and their families each summer.
