It really doesn't MATTER what he was saying at the time... What DOES matter is that NOW he is the Gung Ho asskicking warrior - frequently seen wearing military attire and posing as macho man....

He AVOIDED HIS RESPONSIBILITY..
He avoided service with a lie and a scam....
He was too busy making money or protecting his yellow ass.

If he was a conscientious objector - that would be different..
I served with men who opposed violence against humans - but believed they should serve their country in time of war..
One of the finest Corpsman I ever met was a conscientious objector - but as a Navy Corpsman who volunteered to serve with Marines in Vietnam.

He was one of the bravest men I ever saw...
Moving throughout every firefight without a weapon....
Saving lives or giving final comfort to those who were dying.

Big bad Ted Nugent would amount to more than a pimple on that man's ass.

I read your links and am no where near convinced. Maybe yes or no but your links didn't advance your case.

Nugent has surely done more for the troops moral than the whiny Debbie Schlussel based on what little of her drivel I could stomach.

I don't have a bone to pick with you and respect you so I will take this under advisement for now.

Thanks and take care,

From all I’ve observed or learned about Michael Steele — He is a learned and righteous man of unimpeachable integrity.

I doubt he can turn a phrase or is as well known as others - but a very fine gentleman nonetheless.

I disagree with some of his beliefs — especially that he believes Affirmative Action is still necessary to bridge the disparities in society....

So, Nugent’s personal admission he dodged the draft hasn’t convinced you?

See what I mean about “Leading a horse to water”?

I won’t quibble about the truthfulness of his interview where he claimed he “made up” some of the details of showing up in feces caked clothing for his physical..... Even I find it hard to believe a man - even a coward - would stoop to those tactics...

It the final analysis - regardless of the details - the man STILL admits he dodged the draft...

The result of spreading the wealth around is spreading unemployment around.

Why is it that Ted Nugent is smarter than McCain, his staff, and all his speech writers?

That was the most painful campaign I have ever witnessed, McCain was served fat fastballs right down the middle and sat there with the bat on his shoulder. Every time Palin brought up a strong point, McCain disagreed, if he was as aggressive against Obama as he was Palin he would have won going away.

I think McCain was basically the only candidate capable of losing to Obama.

I’m relieved that I can return to my former default position of despising McCain.

The Nuge's arguments here remind me of my favorite research paper, this describes the average Obama voter: Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments....

I love this guy and while my writing style (or lack thereof) doesn’t reflect it, I think the exact things that he talks about.

God bless this wonderful patriot.

I haven't heard this in his words, just the same written quote posted over and over by liberal bloggers.

See what I mean about “Leading a horse to water”?

I am not a horse and have yet to see any water. I am getting a bit tired of wasting my time on this so if you don't have a recording or legitimate conservative site to quote I am going to drop this.

Regardless of what Nugent did in his past he has done more than most entertainers for the moral of the troops.

My two criteria for voting or holding public office: you must a.) have served in the military (no non-vets or currently serving troops) and b.) be a net tax-PAYER (no government employees or welfare/bailout recipients... net tax EATERS).

You make my point. You are assuming that you or someone with your political views will write the test. Ha! We should be so lucky.

I agree about my assumption.

Given that it's not the answer, the only alternative is the get in your face, hog the dialog, I'll define the argument style that the liberals have been using effectively. (Yes, I am an Ann Coulter fan!)

Knowing what we now do about Vietnam, I would NOT have gone.

Totally agree. Both my dad and his brother were drafted during Vietnam and served honorably. My dad doesn't say too much about it and there has to be a little alcohol in my uncle to for him to say anything about it.

They both hate LBJ's socialist ass with a passion because they knew that they were being sent to a war that the politicians didn't want them to win.

I was directly involved in Serbia for clintoon's bullshit war, Afghanistan, and GWII. I'm out now but you better believe I will refuse anything obama tries to get us into.

Thanks for the information. Ted Nugent isn’t campaigning for office. I simply posted his article. If his past is less than stellar regarding the troops, he has acted more Patriotic lately than many Americans.

We could also add that candidates show a birth certificate to prove Constitutional eligibility to become POTUS.

What a novel idea! Do you think I could get away with not showing my kids Birth Certificate at Little League registration? If it isn't necessary to be POTUS, what difference does it make in baseball?

Wow! Thanks for the laugh of the day!

In 1995, McArthur Wheeler walked into two Pittsburgh banks and robbed them in broad daylight, with no visible attempt at disguise. He was arrested later that night, less than an hour after videotapes of him taken .from surveillance cameras were broadcast on the 11 o'clock news. When police later showed him the surveillance tapes, Mr. Wheeler stared in incredulity. "But I wore the juice," he mumbled. Apparently, Mr. Wheeler was under the impression that rubbing one's face with lemon juice rendered it invisible to videotape cameras (Fuocco, 1996).

I agree 100%..
Perhaps trying to make amends for past behavior.
I also agree with most of Nugent’s current political opinions and views....

I simply do not see him as a hero or patriot.

This is TRUE. However, the alternative wasn’t much better and it would have given Conservatism a BAD name. This of course, had to be balanced with supreme court appointments and most came out on the the side of JM, but not with enough enthusiasm. Also OB run on tax cuts etc.

The idea of showing a BC to prove eligibility is critical but we’re about to have a case setting precedence where it no longer matters. That’s one fault with our “flawed” Constitution and the other is gun ownership as I see O going after that. And what really pissed me off is that a flag waving attorney says it doesn’t matter as the people have spoken. Never thought our Constitution and guiding principles were so fragile.
