A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson near Malibu Creek State Park, a sheriff's deputy said Sunday.

Suren Sahakyan was booked on suspicion of arson at the sheriff's Lost Hills Station and held in lieu of $75,000 bail, said Deputy Byron Ward of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

An area resident saw the man on shoulder of Stokes Canyon Road near Mulholland Highway, starting a fire using paper and leaves about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Ward said.

The resident stomped out the fire, and Sahakyan fled but was caught by sheriff's deputies a short distance away.

Can’t speak of what’s been going on in Canada, cause I don’t have enough data, but in the US, I don’t think that’s really happening.

More people live near fire, and it gets better press coverage, and there are a lot of dead trees from bug kill, and sometimes the fires burn more because of that...but this year, the fires with the biggest news coverage was the rash of fires in northern and central California which were started by a really bad dry thunderstorm event.

There’s not been a new pattern of fire starts that show increased arson. I am beginning to think that the terrorists types that come into this country are way too much the city boys...cause they could be wreaking a lot more havoc, say, in August and late July than has been happening.

This year, the number of acres burned are two million less in the states than the 10 year average, and the number of fire starts are down, too....

Wrong ethnic group. He seems to be Armenian. And Armenians are Christians.

Suren is a pretty common Armenian given name as well.

I’m sure were I one of those who lost everything to one of these fires I’d be ready to do something to a guy like this.
Either a terrorist or a sick freak, either way he should be room temp.

California has tasted their terrorism before, this is a very long list of events, I did not check it all:

Armenian Terrorism - A Chronological List, 1973 - 1986

During a 16-year period from 1973 to 1986, various Armenian terrorist organisations claimed responsibility for about 200 attacks on Turkish diplomatic and non-diplomatic institutions and murdered 55 Turkish and 16 non-Turkish people and wounded hundreds of others. Armenians also targeted their own people who refused to make financial contribution to Armenian terrorism. Below is a chronological list of Armenian terrorist activities from 1973 to 1986.

January 27, 1973 Santa Barbara, California

The Armenian Gourgen Yanikian, a U.S. citizen, invites the Turkish Consul General, Mehmet Baydar, and the Consul, Bahadir Demir to a luncheon. The unsuspecting diplomats accept the friendly invitation. Gourgen Yanikian murders his two guests. He is sentenced to life imprisonment.

April 4, 1973 Paris

Bombings at the Turkish Consulate General and the offices of Turkish Airlines (THY). Extensive damage.

October 26, 1973 New York

Attempted bombing of the Turkish Information Office. The bomb is discovered in time and defused. A group calling itself the “Yanikian Commandos” claims responsibility. They want the release of the double murderer of Santa Barbara, Gourgen Yanikian, who insidiously murdered two Turkish diplomats.

February 7, 1975 Beirut

continued.

Researches proves that being part of international terrorism, Armenian terrorism has more than 100 years history. Aiming at to create “Great Armenia”, Armenian radical organizations - “Armenakan” founded in 1885, parties like “Hnchak” and “Dashnaksutyun” for the realization of this plan identified political terror as the main tool in their programs.

Wasn’t there a gun man in LA airport shortly after 9/11? Israel’s airport section.

Yes. The southern end. We have a couple of friends in Sylmar who were evacuated but didn't lose their homes. We could see the flames on the east side of the 14 last night. Today there are a couple of trouble spots. One looks to be over Placerita Canyon way and the other looks like it's in Granada Hills. This fire nearly met up with the damage from the Porter Ranch fire from a couple of weeks ago.

I also know many Armenian Jews here. Sadly they voted for 0bama. I couldn't convince them that they would likely lose their small business if 0bama won. They just hated GWB so much I couldn't turn them.

It’s interesting to note that Iranian Intelligence when it sponsored terrorist meetings before the Luxor terrorist massacres, pulled together Shia and Sunni terror groups such as Al Qeda, and it included a few non-Muslim terror groups, one of which at least was an Armenian terror group. It may be just a coincidence but Turkey is, after all, a long time ally of sorts, particularly ints military who still cherish the Attaturk revolution, and it is by far the strongest military power in the Islamic world and so, as long as its military remains as a powerful block to the Jihadists, one of the greatest threats to their drive for world domination.

Surnames ending in “ian” or “yan” are usually Armenian.

Most Armenians are Christians.
