"On Thursday, CNN aired "Escape from Jonestown," presented by CNN special investigations unit corespondent Soledad O'Brien. This week marks thirty years since the horrific deaths of more than 900 people, roughly a third of them children, at Jonestown. The massacre was orchestrated by "Reverend" Jim Jones. What CNN barely referenced was Jones's connection to several leading Democratic politicians of the time. O'Brien did identify Jones as a believer in socialism and, with a survivor, passingly alluded to his influence in the Democratic Party"

Joseph Califano, an official in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and secretary of health, education and welfare for Jimmy Carter wrote Jones: "Knowing your commitment and compassion, your interest in protecting individual liberty and freedom have made an outstanding contribution to furthering the cause of human dignity."Individual liberty and human dignity???? I wonder what Mr. Califano said after the massacre?

All the connections with prominent DEMOCRATS go ignored in Soledad’s little mockumentary..... gee, does anything think that if Jim Jones had lunched with Betty Ford or Pat Nixon and corresponded with them that it might have merited a mention from Soledad? Anyone else think that if Jim Jones had been a darling of Republican pols, had an endorsement letter from a Republican VP and future Presidential candidate ala Mondale, etc. that CNN would have found that worthy of notice?
Jim Jones was a far-left nut in the mold of the current Obamessiah. Now we will have the koolaid drinkers in positions of national power. Just wonderful.

Thing is I would bet if Jim Jones hadn't killed them, the MSM of the day would have gave a glowing report on him and Jonestown....
The main NBC reporter there had been the local LA/So Cal NBC 11PM weekend anchor and had an “opinion” spot at the end of the show... he was a left wing loon..the proto K Oberdork... im sure he thought Jonestown was socialist nirvana

I remember when the news came out of Guyana about the massacre at Jonestown, and I also remember an obscure little item about some sort of document or letter that was found on the body of Jim Jones, which made references to the Carter Administration, and that document was reportedly seized by federal agents and remains classified to this day.
Anyone else ever hear about that?

On November 17, 1978, Jim Jones was a hero to American leftists. On November 18, 1978, Jones orchestrated the killings of 918 people and strangely morphed in the eyes of American leftists into an evangelical Christian fanatic.
Makes you think of another creepy messiah figure, and how he got to where he is today, doesn’t it.

Barack Obama's words are eerily similar to Jim Jones' words.
"We're gonna change the world!"
"Hope! Change!"
Such ambigious words were also the words of Jim Jones.
I suspect that there is a very distinct reason why none of the networks broadcast the original words of Jim Jones during any of their documentaries.
They don't want Americans to see the amazing similarities between Jim Jones and Barack Hussein Obama.
