Priest: No Communion for Obama Supporters

A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishoners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion and supporting him "constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil." The Rev. Jay Newman said in a letter distributed to parishoners at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensville that they are putting their souls at risk if they take Communion before doing penance for their vote. "Our nation has chosen for its chief executive the most radical pro-abortion politician ever to serve in the United States Senate or to run for president," Newman wrote, referring to Obama by his full name including his middle name of Hussein. "Voting for a po-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside the full communion of Christ's Church and under the judgment of divine law." According to national polls, 54% of Catholics chose Obama.

To Roman Catholics (at least those who take the teachings of their Church seriously) and Evangelicals, the taking of human life is not some trivial issue. But Fr. Newman failed to mention a larger problem with Obama's pro-abortion record which takes the matter into an entirely new dimension: Although he's tried to worm his way out of it, it's been clearly documented that he has supported the death by neglect of an infant who survived an abortion and was fully alive and whose bodily organs were all functioning at birth. No amount of euphemistic spin can call this anything but what it is: INFANTICIDE. And that's something that even the primitive Romans abandoned as they became more civilized. Well, by the criteria of Judeo-Christian and Western civilization ethical and moral values, we've now become a little more callous and indifferent to one more value that asserts the sanctity of human life.

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment

Obama: “If they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”

I have to chuckle.

There’s a car by me with two Obama/Biden stickers on it, plus get this: one of those “Baby On Board” stickers.

Talk about irony

Remember the Baptist pastor in North Carolina who was mauled in the press and by his own denomination for excluding Kerry voters from membership?

People who voted for S.O.B.ama should be ashamed of themselves.

WARNING: POSSIBLY DISTURBING IMAGE (FOR PRO-LIFERS).

YOU PRO-ABORTS WILL FIND IT GRATIFYING.

Time to stop sugar-coating this subject. This shot was taken by a pro-life activist behind an abortuary. But those aren’t human babies. The One has told us so.

This could easily be mistaken for a photo of the atrocities at Dachau.

Will the Catholic Church make him stop making statements about Obama? Will they censure him? If they don't, and put a papal stamp on this it will be as huge as the last Pope.

John Paul helped to bring down the soviet union because he would not back down. The soviets tried to kill him at least once.

That time the church showed just how big it was. Hope it happens again.

Right, very ironic. “Baby on board,” but the baby who’s on board but in the womb isn’t really human life. Just some subhuman blob of protoplasm. What a world!

Guys,

Don’t get too excited about this priest. I live in the Greenville, SC area, and after getting pressure from on high (not from God though) he has rolled. He said he posted his message in haste and it didn’t come out just right. He apparently never meant to imply that those who voted for Obama should not present themselves for communion until doing pentence. I guess he got neutered by his diocese.

Thanks for the YouTube reminder. It’s just my opinion as an undistinguished student of history but I think that Obama’s notion of a baby as “punishment,” or an inconvenience to parents who don’t want to be restrained from their own self-centered personal goals, is not anecdotal but a real part of historical decadence. Obviously, there’s not the time or space to elaborate on that but I can back it up in full detail.

Of course he was muzzled by his bishop/diocese. You say “don’t get too excited about this priest.” Aren’t you in the least concerned that one of the few clergy who has the courage to bluntly proclaim his Church’s unequivocal and very clear teaching on opposition to abortion is having the clarity of his message muted by people like yourself who engage in such subjective mumbo-jumbo as “He apparently never meant to imply....posted his message in haste...didn’t come out just right...” Look, if you disagree with the teachings of the Church on this issuee - fine - but don’t try to change the ancient and very clear teachings of the Church to conform to your views.

I wish these priests would have said such things before the election, and louder.

I do too, but for their own reasons they’ve decided to give Kerry and others (including Ted Kennedy), a free pass on the issue. And the Church wonders why it’s accused of hypocrisy and playing politics?

Not the bishop, Charleston’s seat is currently vacant. The fellow in charge is an “Administrative Something” and a Monsignor. He made a brief statement about the priest’s letter to his parishioners not fully complying with Church teaching but did not say exactly why not or how. The priest also did not back down, but clarified that he never said he would refuse Communion to anyone should they come up, but that they should not present themselves if they are in state of mortal sin. Priest also said his statement was pastoral guidance and moral clarification, not a political statement or any sort of threat, and that he thought perhaps it would be misinterpreted....and he was right.
