DUBAI (AFP) Pirates in the Arabian Sea on Monday attacked and took control of the Saudi-owned very large crude carrier Sirius Star, a spokesman for the US Navy 5th fleet said.
"The vessel is under the pirates' control," the spokesman told AFP following a statement saying that the tanker, which is owned by Saudi Aramco, came under attack more than 450 nautical miles southeast of Mombasa, Kenya.

450 NM South East of Mobassa? That’s pretty far afield for Somalis.
This will help oil prices. The Saudis are probably in on it.
My first thought also.
the seven pirate-free seas have just been farther reduced.
End times reductionism on the move

If these guys did not get permission from the Saudi’s in advance for this attack, they are playing with fire. The Saudis could lose patience and cut off the funding for their little “Islamic Paradise”, and that will be the end of that.
It’s all fun and games until somebody loses an eye. You start messing with Saudi Arabia’s oil shipments, and you’re going to piss them off!
What were you just saying this morning?
Send in the Seals.................
Send in a submarine.
Send in a submarine.
Heck, just send down a Predator. You could torch that puppy and a whole lot of Pirates, all is one swell foop!

Obama has already ordered the penguins to intervene.
Pirates from where? The Iranian regime has been calling for cutbacks in production from OPEC to try to raise the price. I have to wonder if they had a hand in this.
This is series...sirius.
This is series....oops....sirius.
Maybe it’s 450 NM South East of Muscat, Oman. That would make a lot more sense. Still pretty far afield for the Somali Pirates. That’s about a thousand NM from Somali shores.
But it makes more sense for a VLCC to be there than heading up into the Gulf of Aden or down by Madagascar.
... And its HUGH!!!
The location must be a mistake. It would be placed somewhere near the seaward border of Tanzania and Mozambique. It is likely that it took place Northeast of Mombassa, off the coast of Somalia.
