Define R.I.N.O.: A Republican In Name Only.

Examples of the type of Republican covered under this definition are:

Rep. Mark Kirk [R-IL] Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen [R-FL] Rep. Michael Ferguson [R-NJ] Rep. Christopher Shays [R-CT] Rep. Michael Castle [R-DE] These five supposed Republican are nothing more than jackasses in elephant's clothing. Rep. Mark Kirk has introduced a bill, H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008, which would "reinstate the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act."

5.7 was designed with full-auto in mind, intended to make a bunch of tiny holes instead of one big hole (the latter being more easily stopped by a vest). Don’t go 5.7 unless you have “da switch”.

BLOAT like there is no tomorrow!

Lordy, I've been getting rid of as much of the oddball and badly outdated stuff I've accumilated over five decades of accumulation, and trying to get things reasonably standardized, less a few family heirlooms and trophies, of course.

But the good news is that every round that I've let get away has gone to enhance someone else's personal stockpile, and I've almost got my burden down to a couple of axle-threatening truckloads. And I've tried to replace that which has gone out with more useful things coming in. And I've been linking belts up like an obsessed macrame artiste who's discovered a new hobby. Belts! Shiny!

At least I don't have this guy's problems.

So you’re saying that since the theme of my collection is “Rifles of the Armies of the English-speaking World of the First Half of the Twentieth Century”, I’d do well to stock up on the LC and HXP ammo the CMP is selling?

The 1911. I’m ordinarily not prone to sentimentality, but in these dark times, few things comfort me more than this venerable piece. Nothing like a timeless, functional work of art to remind me of better days. What the hell! Now that the Obamessiah is going to pay your mortgage and gas, treat yourself to both with that extra cash. You deserve it.

Oh boy. I can't believe I actually gave Kirk a check a couple of years back--and was thinking about working for him, to boot.

I am ashamed.

"Thought about picking up an AK but since 7.62x39 ammo is imported it could get scarce mighty quick."

You could get a Romanian SAR-3 which is chambered in .223.

You know, coincidentally, I just did. With a slight tip o' the hat to modern capability, I got a stainless Springfield 1911. Gosh I like them thangs.

I absolutely hate the words assault weapons.

Same goes for "high capacity" magazines.

MOST magazines that have been tagged as "high capacity" by the anti-gun maggots, are actually the original equipment, REGULAR (read that NORMAL) capacity magazines designed for use with a particular firearm from DAY ONE.

Your right darn it!!!
I do deserve it and "THE ONE" is making it all possible.
I do feel better about myself.

I'll look into SIG, Kimber, Colt 45's. It needs to feel good in the hand like my P226 does.

You betcha. The Greek HXP is what's hanging in my 2$ Garand Tac Vest right now, and the mixed headstanp LC at $70 per can of 250 is also a very nice deal...and just the right quantity for M1919A4 links.

I'm not real thrilled with the Mexican .30 Carbine ammo the CMP has been offering, but GI LC in carbine strippers and bandoleers is available, if pricey.

The $35 each magazines are a consideration. The ,223 version of the Russian Saiga is easily modified to use surplus and more common Galil magazines, and plastic versions are also available at around $15 each. There are now folding stock units for the Saiga, some of which take either an M4 push-pull stock or M16A1 solid stock but fold to the gun's left side [maintaining a clear ejection port and access to the AK selector]

And if you have a few examples of fired brass with mangled caswe mouths, not uncommon considering the AKs VERY certain extraction/ejection cycle, a few reloading tools and supplies and a little time, they can become 7.62 x 25 reloads for a Czech Vz52 or Tokarev TT33 pistol, both of which are very reasonably priced and available to those with C&R licenses...for now.

Conveniently, Camp Perry is a mere 214 mile drive from where I live right now.

Rep. Kirk is my congressman, and I think that he should run as a Democrat. His latest rating from Gun Owners of America is 0%, and his latest rating from Planned Parenthood is 100%. He voted against a bill that would have banned gay marriage. In May 2007, when 11 republican congressmen went to the White House and told President Bush that they opposed the Iraq surge, Kirk was the group’s leader. A leader of the Illinois Minuteman Project told me that Kirk went to the Mexican border and gave advice to illegals, to help them sneak across the border. I emailed Kirk, four times, and I asked why he’s a Republican. I didn’t get a response, so I emailed four of his aides and asked them why he’s a Republican. None of them responded.
