PHOENIX -- Arizona businesses seem to be losing interest in illegal immigration issues.
Public Opinion Research recently asked a sample of state businesses how critical the illegal immigration issue is to their business.
"What we found out was that only 10 percent said that it is critical," said researcher Mike O'Neil.
Another 14 percent said immigration issues are "very important," while 56 percent said they were not important.
About 200 of 3,000 Arizona small businesses contacted responded to the Arizona Economic Indicators survey.
Three-quarters of the respondents said Arizona's employers sanctions law -- which imposes tough penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants -- has had little effect on their businesses.
"Three out of four Arizona businesses said it's having no effect whatsoever," O'Neil said. "The remainder, which was a relatively modest number, 25 percent, was divided equally among those who said it's had a positive and a negative effect."
O'Neil said the law continues to go through a "shake down" period in which employers are discovering that the law's reach is limited and has neither a positive nor negative impact.
O'Neil added that it's possible small businesses are more preoccupied with the economy and that interest in immigration could shift, once the economy starts to recover.
It appears illegal labor isn't 'vital' to business after all. Remember when we were told that Prop. 200 and regulations like them would destroy the economy?
Just stealing the jobs Americans used to do.
Of course we knew it was a hoax all along. Mostly builders were using the cheap cash labor. Now they don’t appear to be building as much and have about a 10 year supply of already built models to sell out of foreclosure.

Yes, and most of ‘em are about as good as the junk they build in Mexico. Down there it’s either half finished and left or falling down. Remember that article the other day about the Mexican bricks used to build these USA homes that had turned to nothing but brick dust?
For this “non important issue” we came THIS close to altering our country forever.
I wish some of the open border morons who used to haunt this site were still around. It would be fun to rub their noses in this.
Weren't they a kick~
There’s still a few of them. I must say I do miss the premier OBL (won’t mention the name or I’ll have to ping it)
Him showing up would have been the frosting on this disgusting election.
Park-reverse-neutral-drive 1, 2 was my favorite. He was mui loco.
But in hindsight I'd say they were hilarious.

Unfortunately, we may be closer than ever now. It will take another huge effort to fight it.
And McCain will once again be leading the charge.
Now that he's been freed of any hope of being president he'll be virtually impossible to turn around a second time.
