The GOP of today is more interested in bashing them than working with them.

What does it mean to work with them?

Why yes, Phylis, because it is a president’s job to create jobs through legislation (nevermind the congress).

My thoughts too before I read your post. The more outraged of the “Reagan Democrats” might be thinking of Sandra Day O’Connor, Anthony Kennedy, and the MLK holiday, all of which contributed to the decline of America.

The problem is ignorance. Jefferson said that the country could not be both free and ignorant.

Aren't the majority of union workers in government... county, state, and federal? And let's not forget the teachers union... That word collectivism as methodology does not get lost on some of US.

What does the union members above manufacture? By the way union labor cost have priced themselves out of jobs, hired a union plumber lately???

Since Korean workers and Mexican workers make $2.00 a day. I expect if American workers are forced to compete head on with these countries, we will lose. No American worker union or otherwise can compete with these sort of figures. Of course, there is also the protectionism in Korea for example-don’t allow American cars in-6000 American cars to Korea and 600,000 Korean cars to America.

I guess I don’t want to be a conservative or a Republican if it means screwing your own American workers-destroying what is left of the middle class and ruining the economy for ‘principle’. I am an American. I will never be a global citizen.

Also, the modern union has nothing to do with what’s going on in the big 3. They have made great concessions and will make more given a chance. This hatred of unions that would lead the GOP to lose millions of good paying jobs ( and votes in the end) by letting the big three go under and doom this country to permanent second rate status is madness.

I will bid you goodbye now. There is no reason to remain on this board really. The GOP/modern globalist conservative has nothing but hatred and misery to offer the American people. I want nothing to do with it.

Jobless claims has jumped to a 16 year high... Now these are not just union workers, this global 'slow-down' is affecting everyone. Do you expect government to bail out everyone or just union jobs? Now who is going to buy these autos if we have this kind of slow-down? How long will this bailout last if nobody is willing to go into debt to buy a car.

I prefer to buy American made products, and I hate going to the local Wal-Mart and the majority of items are NOT American made. Why is that? Could it be the cost of regulations and labor have priced themselves out of work? NOT even any of the big three autos are solely made in America any longer.

Don't you want your tax dollars to be productive and not get dumped down a rat hole?

Have you ever been in a no win situation. I try to avoid them if at all possible. The fact of the matter is that if we give them the money we are going to get a pile of crap. If we don’t give them the money, we are going to get a pile of crap. Which pile do you want..........think carefully before you chose.

Just saying goodbye and saw your post. Look I expect the government to recognize that manufacturing is important to this country’s economy because it is. It also is important in terms of national security. We are not talking about losing one company but an entire industry forever.

One of the reasons people are losing jobs is the fake service economy that has reined supreme-the spend your way to prosperity crap. This is the globalist response to massive job losses in manufacturing (first they said it would not happen),’ we don’t need manufacturing; we have the great ideas and innovation, we build someplace else’ Nonsense, high tech does not come out of a vacuum. What great ideas will we come up with? More paper pushing perhaps-sell more bad mortgages? It’s a bad idea. It has cost millions of jobs and will cost millions more jobs in the end. If the GOP gets their way, yes the GOP will be blamed for the loss of the big three and will lose the entire Mid West for a generation in terms of votes if the big three go, get used to buying foreign cars, you won’t have a choice anymore than you do for appliances, electronics or clothing. Anyway goodbye and good luck. Nice talking with you.

Hey - I choose the pile of crap that saves millions of jobs. Then I suggest we stop pretending that we can spend our way to prosperity and makes something! Goodbye and good luck.

I said “think carefully.” Put your thinking cap on, don’t react like a liberal. Don’t listen to the propaganda you are being fed. Use wisdom and think long term.

Liberals sell utopia and a quick fix, conservatives are closer to the truth.
