Catholic members of Congress who vote for the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) could face “automatic excommunication” if the act is determined to be “formal cooperation” in the evil of abortion.

I find this disturbing.
If Catholics can not vote to decriminalize sin, or must vote to criminalize sin, does this mean Catholics must oppose freedom of religion?
After all, God’s law prohibits worship of anything other than Him.
Oh pleeeeze...no guts/no balls/no action will be taken.

I guess the good bishops would have “congratulated” Adolf Hitler upon his appointment as chancellor! And with 54% of "Catholics" voting for Obama; I'm disgusted with the American electorate and my fellow Catholics in particular who voted for Obama!

At this point, IF it were to come to a specific individual priest (including bishops) denying Communion to a politician, it might not even be reported under the incoming regime.
I will believe it when I actually see it happen. Do not hold your breath. The majority of bishops within the USCCB are the biggest collection of cowards to ever hold the office. Here in Nebraska the bishops determined it was not the time to take a stand against pro-abortion politicos and their enablers in the electorate. Excerpt:

“A prophecy of denunciation quickly wears thin,” said Bishop Blase Cupich of Rapid Coity, South Dakota. “We need a prophecy of solidarity with the communities we serve and the nation we live in, which needs healing. We must be, and be seen to be, caring pastors as well as faithful teachers.”
Archbishop Elden Curtiss of Omaha, Nebraska, struck a similar note.
“The atmosphere in the country right now is to bring about unity, to reach out to different points of view and different opinions,” Curtiss said. “It’s important for us not to be seen as being deliberately divisive now, or creating division by our actions.”
Curtiss suggested that perhaps one winning argument in opposition to FOCA is precisely that it would be “extremely divisive.” …

I personally find this anti-American, anti-democracy.
Since when can the church tell the state what to do, “or else”.
Our founding fathers made seperation of church and state for a very good reason. The State couldn’t tell the church what to think or do, and the church couldn’t tell the State what to think or do. When either side starts meddling in the others affairs, both sides get corrupted. The founding fathers SAW this, they KNEW this, they wanted to protect against this.
Uphold our founding fathers good intentions and the constitution, tell the church to mind it’s own business, else the State will start minding it. They’re trying to weild a two edged knife that’s best kept sheathed.
Any member of Congress, Catholic or not, who votes for such an evil act is deliberately turning away from God thus choosing their path to hell.

Aside from the politicians, what about the rank and file? The majority of Catholics went for Obama...if they are going to be consistent, shouldn’t they be excommunacated too? But I have to hand it to this Father Corapi for at least trying to make a stand.
