BEVERLY HILLS – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger opened his international climate change summit yesterday by upstaging himself with an even bigger political star – President-elect Barack Obama.

Schwarzenegger, a Republican whose efforts to combat global warming in California have generated worldwide acclaim, wants to show that governments can balance environmental protection and economic growth. He hopes his summit will influence negotiations over a new climate treaty during a U.N. gathering in Poland next month.

In a taped message to participants, Obama said his administration is committed to a cause that has all but languished at the federal level during the administration of President Bush.

“Once I take office, you can be sure that the United States will once again engage vigorously in these negotiations and help lead the world toward a new era of global cooperation on climate change,” Obama said.

worldwide acclaim.. for what?

buying into a hoax and lie for a legacy and some more bling bling?

being the biggest spender and borrower in state history?

by seeking to impose policies that will destroy and chase businesses from California?

Global warming laws will increase the economic woes.

What we need is an active energy program to get the country rolling again. This includes all fossil fuels, nuclear energy, wind solar et al.

Governments cannot balance economic growth and environmental protection. They tend to lean too heavily on one or the other.

Currently, there is WAY too much emphasis put on the “protection” of the environment, but with an agenda buried in that supposed concern. The “protection” is basically an anti-capitalist offensive. “Cap and trade” is designed to make profits impossible for any technology that uses coal or petroleum, and guarantees that the coming business downturn (and folks, we ain’t seen NOTHING yet) will be the deepest and most severe the world has known.

No profits, no taxable revenue, means no funds to carry out all these grand schemes. Oh, lots of paper certificates can be printed up, or a barter system could be set up, but with a total lack of trust in the sanctity of rights of ownership for individuals, not much real regrowth will ever occur.

Prepare to freeze in the dark.

America is SO screwed.
