We had a land-bridge for a number of years through Russia. Not sure when it ended or if it ended.

It is tied to this:

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/11/20/europe/EU-Russia-Germany-Afghanistan.php

We are looking to ship supplies into Afghanistan via Railway from Europe. Right now we truck in EVERYTHING from Pakistan across the Torkham border crossing in the Khyber Pass. It is very dangerous and a lot our stuff gets hijacked. So instead we will look to go overland, from Europe into Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhastan and Uzbekistan. Which still seems dangerous because the caucuses, and southern russia and UStan and Kstan are all rotten with AQ and Insurgents.

More of this is discussed on today’s Covert Radio Show at CovertRadioShow.Com

The world is getting stranger and stranger.

It only seems so. The historical narrative from public school and the MSM has diverged sufficiently from reality that reports are difficult to reconcile with the narrative anymore.

Goes to fight a mutual enemy...Plus the Russians and Germans are more friendly to each other recently. Putin has a lot of oil deals with that country.

The Russians also dont like fundamentalist muslims. That is the type of enemy they are fighting in the seperatist regions of the Caucauses.

It means russia is starting to try to flip Germany and Europe to its side.
That and russia is afraid of the crazy mooselimbs in Afganistan and still hold a few grudges too.

Yep, they sense the upcoming US power vacuum and the Eurostates will realize it’s in their best interests to get on the good side of Putin ‘cause Obama ain’t gonna save them. Up until now they felt safe to bluster, knowing that Uncle Sam, from behind who’s pant legs they were blustering, would always save the day. Now all bets are off.

NATO, including the U.S., have been flying routes through Russia for years now in support of ops in Afghanistan. It never went away even with the invasion of Georgia. Although Russia did threaten to close the routes over the dispute with the west. Russian airlift companies also fly outsize loads from Europe and the U.S. under contract from NATO into Afghanistan.

“NATO, including the U.S., have been flying routes through Russia for years now in support of ops in Afghanistan.”

I read a lot of posts where people call for more combat troops in Afghanistan, yet never see consideration of the logistics involved.

Everything going to this landlocked theater must go through either Russia (and her ex-republics) or Pakistan. The Pakistan land route goes right through the heart of enemy territory - a situation unique in American military history as best as I can recall.
