Just Indians doing the job Americans no longer want to do.

You’ll notice that NOT A SINGLE U.S. flagged ship has been attacked?

That WILL change under Obama, as the Pirates KNOW thier towns would be rubble if they tried that on an American ship under Bush.

At least India is stepping up. What are the others in the region doing?

Yeah, I agree. In fact, this rash (9 in 12 days) of recent piracies comes just after the election.

I feel sure there was a little diplomacy involved by way of which India "got the nod".

There are very few, if any, US flagged merchant ships, especially in that area.

Considering US maritime law, shippers register their ships in otehr countries (Panama and Liberia, for instance).

The UK Navy is in the area, but will not capture or detain any pirates, because it would be a “violation of their human rights” (yes, true).

Indians doing a job Americans are not allowed to do.
I'm sure most naval officers and ratings would love earn a “Somalian Anti-Piracy Campaign” ribbon for wiping them out.

I'm really glad there is a free country somewhere with the will to do the job. Go India!
