Your friend's new fuchsia fedora might be hideous. But don't call it gay, or you might get a language lesson from the conversation cops.
Students at Queen's University who sprinkle their dialogue with an assortment of "homo" or "retarded" could find out the hard way that not everyone finds their remarks acceptable.
The Kingston university has hired student facilitators to step in when they overhear homophobic slurs, remarks bashing women or racially tinged insults, along with an array of other language that could be deemed offensive.
That means tête-à-têtes in the residence hallways may no longer be just between friends.

conversation cops, thought police? it’s all a matter of semantics.
How gay.
There would be a whole squad of these idiots following me around 24/7, and I sure would keep them busy.
Does that mean I can’t use my “fag-tag” or “fag-bag” anymore? What about “tulip”? I will be LOST without them!
LOL!
A sampling of some behaviour that could warrant attention from university-appointed student
facilitators, tasked with policing students’ offensive language
at Queen's:
If a student uses the phrase “That's so gay” in conversation.
If a student calls someone or something “retarded.”
If a student writes a homophobic, racist or other derogatory remark in a public space, such as on a residence poster or classmate's door.
If a student avoids a classmate's birthday party for faith-based reasons.
How's that for a “conversation” stopper?
No label will ever be acceptable because what they do to each other is disgusting.
Watch the movie “As Good As It Gets” ....
I can’t even write the nasty thing my son said to me, joking about a homosexual act.
It may not be PC to speak it publicly, but many still say it in private.
Gay is gay, queer is queer, and people are still going to think what they will. Me included.
“The Kingston university has hired student facilitators to step in when they overhear homophobic slurs, remarks bashing women or racially tinged insults,........”
Excellent, deploy them to all the mosques.
It won’t be long until this comes here as well.
We KNOW better.
We haven't become indifferent about how DIGUSTING homosexuality is and will ALWAYS BE.
It's like all cultures being equal. Well now they want to ram down your throat that all SEXUAL PERSUASONS are EQUAL. LOL. It won't work here. They can stick that mentality where the sun doesn't shine instead of what they usually put there.
I noticed that. I don’t quite know what that means. Why would a student be required to attend a party? More attacks on the Christian faith, though.
Yeah, but I bet if you say, “Dirka Dirka Jihad” that would perfectly acceptable, right?
I try to follow the rule - love the sinner, hate the sin.
But don’t go acting like it’s not a sin. Or like it’s normal behavior. It isn’t.
But dont go acting like its not a sin. Or like its normal behavior. It isnt.
Today you are to EMBRACE the SIN and the SINNER.
You are NOT to DISCRIMINATE AGAINST EITHER.
That is what all you TOLERANCE has gained you.
Think about it.
Does this mean you can’t say “Queens University”?
