Obama Skips Church, Heads To Gym

President-elect Barack Obama has yet to attend church services since winning the White House earlier this month, a departure from the example of his two immediate predecessors.

On the three Sundays since his election, Obama has instead used his free time to get in workouts at a Chicago gym.

Asked about the president-elect's decision to not attend church, a transition aide noted that the Obamas valued their faith experience in Chicago but were concerned about the impact their large retinue may have on other parishioners.

"Because they have a great deal of respect for places of worship, they do not want to draw unwelcome or inappropriate attention to a church not used to the attention their attendance would draw," said the aide.

Both President-elect George W. Bush and President-elect Bill Clinton managed to attend church in the weeks after they were elected.

In November of 1992, Clinton went to services in Little Rock, Ark., on the three weekends following his election, taking pre-church jogs on the first two and attending on the third weekend a Catholic Mass with the Rev. Jesse Jackson, with whom he was trying to smooth over lingering campaign tensions.

I don’t usually recommend skipping church, but the less time he spends in HIS church, the better. lol

"Because they have a great deal of respect for places of worship, they do not want to draw unwelcome or inappropriate attention to a church not used to the attention their attendance would draw,"

Well gosh, not drawing attention to a church should definitely trump communion with God. Going to the gym for self worship kinda works it out of your system, I guess. typical for this narcissist.

His excuse is that he doesn’t want to bring a crowd?????? LOLOL

After the campaign he just had?

Besides, BO just used church as a political base and didn’t really listen to what Wright said, or so he says.

Reagan wasn't a very devout churchgoer (although he was a believing Christian), neither was Lincoln (ditto). Jefferson never went to church at all for services during his presidency.

I don't care what he does in his personal Sunday time. I am more concerned with what he does as President.

So — he uses the church when he needs it, and ignores it when it is no longer useful. He reached out to Christianity when he felt it would be useful and probably only because it would be useful. What exactly does he believe in?

He choose Wright’s church because it was the closest thing he could find to Islam.

Yeah, I love that version of “logic.” Kind of like “I wouldn’t join any club that would have me as a member.”

“They do not want to draw unwelcome or inappropriate attention to a church not used to the attention their attendance would draw...”

Yeah, right. And he said he didn’t join the military because the Vietnam War was over and there was no conflict going at the time. Not buying.

Apparently, his presense would be considered a disruption in the House of the Lord, but his presense in a gymnasium is no problem.

I wonder why Obama thinks he would disrupt the Lord’s Worship so much?
