THIS NOTE IS FOR YOU AND THE HANDFUL of others on this thread reacting strongly (and not in defeatism):I just called Sen. Reid's office directly (202-224-3542) and pressed 1 to speak to a staff member.
I spoke reasonably. I told her my husband had just been laid off and that I found it appalling that the senator would push for amnesty at a time when millions of people were facing joblessness--and to think illegal aliens would have citizenship and rights was even more appalling. I explained that if she thought our outrage last year burned up the phones, just wait till next year!
The upshot was that I shocked this female staff member, for I sensed she hadn't a clue that people like me realized Obama did NOT campaign on this issue and for Sen. Reid to push it would show a callous disregard for Americans facing a depression. She assured me she'd pass on my concerns (and I thought it was a sincere assurance).
Anyhoooooo . . . for any others reading this post, please, please, please do not wring your hands. Put them to good use writing and/or telephoningyour congressfolk or Reid.
Regards . . . Penny
I am glad you put that number there. I was looking for it online
